Late last month, Dell's 2007WFP woke up finding itself in
a strange, unfamiliar skin. Next, both the SE1777FP and the SE1977FP woke up to find themselves in weird, rather dated,
silver bevels. Now, just as swift and senselessly, the widescreen 27" 2707WFP has met a similarly
silver fate. Dell's website is mum on changes -- it's mum on just about everything -- but pictures don't lie and the decidedly widescreen monitor pictured to the right definitely isn't a misplaced FP-series screen lost in the labyrinths of Dell's website.

Something wrong with silver? It matches white and black products nicely.
mike @ Jan 9th 2007 4:12AM
well it matches the mac mini, which means it might sell a few now
L. M. Lloyd @ Jan 9th 2007 4:31AM
Yeah, because if Dell is counting on one thing to sell their products, it is Mac compatibility.

LOL! Who needs Apple... certainly not those of us that want competition in the hardware market.

Apple = Bad
PC = Good

Hmm, what type of panel this new 27" TFT might have and resolution?
Pip Kato @ Jan 9th 2007 7:44AM
I wouldn't buy one unless I could get it in black or grey. It looks awful to me.
RyanTV @ Jan 9th 2007 8:10AM
Why is it priced higher than their 30" panel?
Isaac @ Jan 9th 2007 10:32AM
RyanTV - That's a good question.
(For those too lazy to visit Dell's site)
27" = $1,374
30" = $1,274
Maybe they're after the people who like shiny objects and are willing to pay extra for them.

i rather want a black one. black borders improves contrast and makes the image look better than on a silver border.
Isaac @ Jan 9th 2007 10:32AM
I don't like silver or light-colored (white/beige) monitors for more practical reasons than just aesthetics: it really does help with perceived brightness. A darker border makes images on the screen seem brighter in contrast. Yes, it's a minor difference, but it's still *a* difference. Much prefer black monitors.

The picture of the "silver 2007wfp" on Dell's site was actually one of the 2707. The 2007 continues to look like the 2007 that we know.
Zuke @ Jan 9th 2007 12:17PM
Ugh, silver = fugly.
I'm planning to get a bigger Dell LCD to go alongside my BLACK 2001FP, so I guess this one is out now. I'm not going for that jenky look. At least the 2407WFP is still black.
Mesonto @ Jan 9th 2007 1:58PM
The present screens are so nicely designed. What happened Dell? This new one looks horrible.
