Asus intros VX2 Lamborghini laptop
Asus has already given its premium Lamborghini-branded laptops a few upgrades, but the company's now seen fit to give the line a more significant spec bump, announcing the second-gen VX2 series. While the model name would seem to suggest more than just a few tweaks, Asus is keeping most of the details under wraps for the time being, only going so far to say that it'll ship with Windows Vista and be based on Intel's Core 2 Duo-based Centrino Duo Mobile platform. Otherwise, Asus is mostly talking up the laptop's fit and finish, including its aluminum-magnesium alloy or carbon fiber casing (depending on the model), a metallic keyboard, a leather-bound palm rest, and a "glare-type LCD display," although we're not sure they should be bragging about that last feature. Unfortunately, Asus is also staying quiet on pricing and availability, so you'll have to make do without that added glare for a little while longer.[Via Reg Hardware]

Yawn. Gimmick. Yawn.
did they mean glossy?
Ugh, yet another new laptop that ships only with Vista. When will the manufacturers get a clue? There are a lot of people who DO NOT WANT Vista, and an option to get them with XP Pro at the very least (or better yet, no OS at all) would make the potential sales base a lot larger.
Perhaps they have decided they are no longer in the business of selling computers, but prefer to be drones to the Microsoft queen bee, doing her bidding to the exclusion of all else.
Who wants this stuff?
Ferrari laptop, Lamborghini laptop - to me this stuff just looks like a "whore the brand" exercise for the rich & tasteless.
Hm, how about an Apple iCar or WinXP GT? :)
By glare-type they most likely mean the glossy lcds that look like they have a plastic or glass cover on them. While they are actually more susceptible to glare it is a better kind of glare, accurate and small, so that you can actually still see the screen. A regular LCD will catch some light and spread it across the entire screen making the whole screen difficult to read. The glossy ones are definitely 10x easier to look at in the outdoors.
Just got to www.laptopdesignusa.com and get what you want put onto the damn thing.
I have an Acer Ferrari 4005 and it is Awesome. It lives up to the Ferrari image and i am sure so will the Asus lambo. I'll get one.

Ummmm, are you on the right site Tarheel? The "Ferrari image"? Acer? Perhaps your Ferrari computer can take you to this site to help explain why on God's green Earth such a machine has been invented: http://www.rinkworks.com/stupid/cs_hardware.shtml

DUDE, no offense, but you are either a troll or you are not thinking straight. The only reason an average Joe would not want Vista is because there are people like you running around trash talking it before it comes out. I'd bet money that you haven't even tried Beta 1 (Let alone the RTM) have you? Its a nice, stable operating system with some excellent new tweaks. Granted its not revolutionary, but how many operating systems change the way things are done nowadays?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? How many people do you know who would look at a new computer that comes with DOS or less and say "oh awesome, now I can pit openSuse or free BSD on it! I'll have that done in a few hours!" Most people can't even handle spam filters properly let alone actually installing an operating system on **GASP** a text based operating system. And if they offered a choice, what choice would there be besides Linux which most people wouldn't want anyway?
Face it, the economic incentive for offering more or no operating systems is just not there. Furthermore, Vista is a lot better than you give it credit for.
Awesome machine, most OEMs should take cue from Asus including Apple

What is it this going on with people thinking they have the right to speak. Do you even know what youre talking about.VISTA IS CRAP.CRAP I SAY.
You want a real OS, try Linux first before you disgust us with your filthy mouth again.Linux is more stable, more resourceful and always always safer than those people from winwhores.
I did try the RTM, Both Beta 1 and 2 and I still ended up going back to my Gentoo with Beryl.
Windows did nothing new.. All they did was patch up all the obvious errors in Windows XP and give it a Plastic Surgery to make it look nice again. Think I'm lying. We'll count how many errors and problems Vista has in the next year and compare that to how many Linux does get too...
What Now...
P.S. If for some reason you cant find the errors
Vista might try to hide them in little packets called Service Packs that they'll want to hand to people for free.Look at what they'll actually patch.
P.S.S. I already heard they're already releasing Vista Pack 1. Looks like Linux is winning already without even trying. Linus Torvald for Life...
yeah...
and you are telling them no offense?
you are insulting them again and again...
spooooooooooooooooge
