Those digging the specs on Lenovo's Thinkpad T60p laptop but not so down with the basic black look now have another option besides the DIY route at their disposal, with
ColorWare announcing that its added the laptop to its multi-colored lineup. The laptop itself remains the same as before, of course, and configurable to some extent, with a 15.4-inch widescreen display and 2GHz Core 2 Duo processor standard, along with up to 2GB of RAM and 160GB of hard drive space. Things depart from the Thinkpad mold when you hit the color selection screen, however, with no less than 28 colors to choose from, including such stylish options as Caution Yellow (seen above) and Cotton Candy Pink. Going for the base model in your choice of color will set you back $2,950 with units shipping in 2-3 weeks, although those that have already sprung for a T60 aren't entirely out of luck, with ColorWare saying they'll soon also be offering an option for you to send in your laptop for a bit of sprucing up.
spongebob's laptop?
Even though they are incredibly well-built, IBM/Lenovo notebooks have to be the ugliest things on the planet.
What is so ugly about flat black?
It is better than most of the "bling" you find on your average laptop by HP, Dell, Gateway, Sony, ect.
I agree, performance-wise IBM/Lenovo is certainly a great notebook, but they really ARE pretty ugly (and I'm not talking about the 'flat black' color). If they could just pay a bit more attention to the design I'd definitely buy it in a snap.
Now if Sony could just make better notebooks...
Why would anyone want a Hummer Yellow laptop?
prolly "cautionary-yellow" cuz it explodes?
Hmm, the "Caution Yellow" actually doesn't look as bad as it sounds.
Its to bad I can;t do this to the t60p I already own!
Actually you can. You can send in your current laptop and they will paint it the color of your choice.
I ordered an iPod from them and I must say it looks mighty snazzy.
why can't I get different colored keys as well? the slate-gray/charcoal keys suck.
The black doesn't bother me- I work with a lot of black HP units in the workplace that are pretty slick. The IBMs historically have been quite boxy, to the point where it feels like they weren't designed for a human to hold them. I don't need candy colors and some futuristic... i dunno, "Apple iOrb?" But the IBMs have been really behind, IMHO
I want my Thinkpad black. The design "black box" worked in -97, it will work just fine in -07.
A Thinkpad in anything other than black is an abomination.
So--a similarly spec'd T60 widescreen only seems to run to a hair under 2k; the paint job really is responsible for the $2950 Colorware price?
This is pretty hot if you ask me. You have to see the product in person to appreciate the quality. I have an iPod Video in Ferrari Red and Jet Black - and it looks AWESOME! Check out the ThinkPad in the rest of the color options!
This is heresy! Thinkpads in YELLOW? :D
