Motorola Q2, EDGE Q to take center stage at 3GSM
Anyone out there still care about getting their hands on the GSM / EDGE Q pictured after the break? Anyone at all? Come on now, don't be shy. Alright, well, anyhoo, Moto's recent webcast detailing its 2007 financial outlook makes mention of just such a device, brining all that love Verizon customers have been enjoying for many moons now to GSM users -- minus the 3G radio, of course. Perhaps the more provocative announcement, though, involves the mysterious Q2 (is that pronounced Q squared?), a device whose formal introduction is promised for 3GSM next month. All we know for now is that it'll come in EV-DO and HSDPA (finally!) flavors, but if we were the betting type, we'd say that this hullabaloo probably has something to do with the "Norman" we saw a while back. Anyone holding off on BlackJack purchases until this all gets sorted out?

I actually bought a BlackJack and loved it except for one thing....reception. I had to return it because I didn't even get a signal in my apartment and I live 1/4 mile from the tower. Apparently there's too much metal and cement between my and the tower in my downtown area.
However my RAZR works just fine, so my guess is it's the BlackJack.
I was thinking about switching to Verizon, but maybe I'll hold out a few months.

I certainly hope no one is holding out on buying a BlackJack seeing as how anything GSM that Motorola makes sucks.

How is the battery life on the Blackjack? That's usually the one knock on it that I've read (people complaining about very poor battery life, etc.).

That's because Samsung doesn't give a *snip* about battery life in nearly all of its designs, particularly the Smartphone kind. It knows it, too. That's why they ship the Blackjack with 2 batteries, I kid you not.
They care so much about the customer they put design first and give the users the option of lugging around a second battery in case their product comes up short.

I have a blackjack and I have absolutely no problems out of it. I don't see the reason to wait on a Q if you are interested in a blackjack.
As for the battery life, if you are a power user u may have to charge it daily but it won't die on you in the middle of the day or anything. My second battery hasn't been used yet.

Summary - I liked the BlackJack alot except for my reception experience was horrible....I live in a very urban area.
I then tried the E62 buy Nokia and it's reception was fantastic, except the thing was clunky looking and a little bigger than I want in my pocket.
The 'Q' is more similar to the blackjack so I'm just hoping it's reception will be good. I have no problem with my Motorola GSM RAZR - in fact I've had it for over 2 years and it works perfectly.

While the blackjack looked like a media-centric ripoff of the Q, i was extremely disappointed when I got my hands on one. The Q feels very solidly built, but the blackjack feels like a cheap plastic toy.

Hopefully this is true and the Feburary 07 product annoucement will be a Q that is a REAL update. Not like that other crap earlier this month. That should be called Q v1.1
Those Norman pics look real nice except for the grey box around the screen. I hope they don't mess it all up and leave that in there. It's ugly. Just leave it all black! Argh.
Anyways either this Q2 thing for me, or if the RIM BB 88xx's are not just the usual email, but also majorly multimedia, then maybe I'd consider.

When is the Q2 suppose to come out?
