We've witnessed the
iPod dock for the
budget-conscience consumer, we've shown you how to
craft your own, and we've seen renditions that are
undoubtedly useful, but Britain's Vauxhall has thrown its presumably coveted logo on an iPod
dock cover and deemed it
royal. The Vaux Dock is actually nothing more than a cover for your factory iPod dock, and its "worth" is apparently derived from the renowned graffiti artist / jewelery designer Daisuke Sakaguchi. The unit is constructed of sterling silver, sports a variety of finely etched logos, and even features an area to hold your car keys and loose change, which you'll likely have little of if you throw down for this thing. Regardless, this fanciful addition to the VX Collective series is only available to the first six diehards who don't mind separating themselves from their hard-earned £399 ($788), but "buyer's remorse" doesn't look to be an acceptable excuse for getting a refund.

Is Vauxhall even a reputable car manufacturer in Europe? Would this be the equivalent of me buying a Mitsubishi Dock or even a Kia Dock? Please, European readers, let me know if this Vauxhall is in the same league as BMW or Mercedes, or even Lexus or Infiniti, because $800.00 sounds a bit much. Is sterling silver that expensive? I could probably get something similar with a VW logo made of Mexican Silver (which is pretty damn good) down in TJ for 50 bucks man!

vauxhalls a big make, but more on family and cheap(er) cars, than the kind of stuff a Merc would be.
in the UK anyways

This rather annoys me, not only is it somewhat ugly and ludicrously expensive, but it totally defeats the point of an iPod dock for a car, in that it offers no way to connect the iPod to a Vauxhall.
apeguero: Vauxhall = Opel = GM. They're reasonably reputable in Europe (certainly considered 'better' than Kia or Mitsubishi, although a little bit short of VW and quite a long way short of BMW or Lexus.

To The Rest of the World from the UK:
Folks, Vauxhall IS NOT a coverted brand. This would be like Ford bringing one of these pointless things out... Aston Martin branded mobile phones is one thing, but a Vauxhall branded iPod Dock cover?!? Who the merry hell thought this was a good idea? Jade Goody?
GioNYC @ Jan 26th 2007 1:07PM
I guess this is for people who burn money away to keep warm.
Mike @ Jan 26th 2007 2:38PM
That's not expensive. That's par for the course when it comes to iPod accessories.
Z @ Jan 26th 2007 8:49PM
This is just stupid. Who in the heck is going to pay that much money for a stupid dock cover?
Give us a break.

This would look great in my new silver Vauxhall I hope it is more affordable than most Vauxhall spares.

i love some of the unusual vauxhall parts available today from this eyepod doc to the alcohol limit sensor on the key.
vauxhall parts always seem to be of high standard and never seem to break. although i reckon the ipod doc might
