Nokia's E90 communicator launched!

You saw the first photos right here on Engadget. Now, Nokia brings the official specs on their S60-series E90 Communicator. Like we heard, it brings quad-band GSM, WiFi, and HSDPA radios along with a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash (and second up front for video calls). Better yet, it does indeed pack integrated GPS and Nokia Maps for all you corporate jet-setters. Expect the E90 to hit in Q2 (volume shipments in Q3) for an unsubsidized price of between "750-800" -- they don't say but we're thinking that's euros or about $1000 of the green stuff. Damn, best put this one on the corporate account where it belongs.

I've the been using the e 90 for about 6 months now. I've had no problems at all. An excellent gadget All features yoou can think of is incorporated in it. GR8 stuff.

Looks thin because it's actually wider than 9300. So it's actually larger than it's predecessor.

So this is all I'll ever require in life, right? I love it, and yeah the price is high, but all the Communicators were high when they first came out. It will go down eventually. Series 60 is much nicer than 80 and GPS, WOW! Somebody please tell me this thing has US 3G bands!!!

E90 appears to have a keyboard that rises when the lid is pushed back - hence those weird hinges. Visit www.gsmarena.com and on their E90 page view the picture of the unit in the hands of a model. You can clearly see the central QWERTY etc part of the keyboard is raised a few mm. Nice idea!

I hope the software is more reliable than with previous communicators. Also, the mechanical durability is a question. I had a 9500, which broke at the hinges. And now my 9300i is being repaired because if refuses to read the memory cards. Before that, it had to be restarted about twice a week - the same as with the 9500.

Clunky. But then again, the communicator never needed to look cool - its coolness comes from the fact that its the most expensive Nokia. When others see it they don't see the large clunky frankenbeast with half a 6230 glued to the front - all they see is $$$. Ka-ching!!

Actually, this isn't the most expensive Nokia (8800 anyone?). Not by a long shot. It's not too far off the mark of the prices charged for previous models (esp. once you account for inflation).

Not to be a kiljoy, because I love this phone and want one bad. But there is no 3G for US bands. The only 3G data band is 2100 according to the Nokia site. US uses 850/1900. Bummer. Almost the perfect phone.
