Sony's Cybershot G1 is finally official
Ah, there you are sweet, sweet Cybershot G1. No surprises here, just like we saw in those leaked catalog images weeks ago, the G1 brings a range of novelties like 802.11b/g WiFi, 2GB of on-board storage, biggie 3.5-inch LCD, DLNA compliance, and slideshows with music. Hell, we hear it'll even take pictures and record MPEG-4 video in VGA quality courtesy of the 6 megapixel sensor. With FCC approval out of the way earlier today, the cam is certain to hit on schedule in April for a $600 MSRP. Too bad the LCD isn't touch-sensitive like a couple of Sony's other Cybershot cams. We'll try to get hands on with it later in the day from the PMA show in Vegas baby, Las Vegas. Stay tuned.

Assuming this is the fancy new hybrid-6M camera/video camera sensor that Sony showed off at PMA. Being that it can take video and shot pictures simultaneously. So you can just take a video of what of a scene and extra a high-quality 6 megapixel image from it. Also makes sense because Sony already has a 12migapixel camera for cheaper announced for the PMA.

My bad, wrong link:

Honestly, from a professional perspective, I have to use Consumer Digitals like this more often than I'd like - and I really don't like the Touch-screen interfaces of the other Sony Cybershots.
I much prefer the tactile feedback you get from a solid button interface, plus, who wants to continually clean their LCD from mucky fingerprints when the camera is passed around? Not I :)
When I saw the first clips of this on Engadget a few weeks ago i was pretty excited as I have been looking for an new digital camera. Seeing the post today though with it only having a 3x optical zoom and 600 price tag is making me think twice.
Indeed - plus, for a compact with high hopes of becoming more than just that, it's absolutely massive.
I like the slide-action going on with the buttons and body though.
i am wondering why it took so long to release a digicam with wireless functionality.

I'm buying it to shoot photos and videos of half naked Japanese girls for my new blog. Thanks for posting it's release as Sonystyle just says pre-order, b*tches.
