PS3 or beer? Microsoft poses the ultimate question

While we might've put down a few of Microsoft's last night Europe exploits as a tad immature, we aren't going to deny the genius here: Microsoft's message to gamers is that the PS3 = the Xbox 360 + £146 in beer money. Of course, such a mental exercise is nothing without a bit of illustration, so Microsoft carted in just that much beer to the offices of the UK's CVG magazine (above) and Auckland, NZ's GamePlanet store (pictured after the break). Naturally, Sony will have the last laugh when its utterly sober fanboys use keen rhetoric to destroy their tipsy MS fanboy opponents in the comments section following this post.

Actually, the equation is correct. MS is saying that the XBox 360 _IS_ the PS3, with an extra £143 in your pocket.

In other words, they are implying that there's no difference between the 360 and the PS3, except for the price tag.

I saw this, and decided to photoshop a stereotypical girlfriend, probably adequately labeled, in place of the PS3, maybe donning the title "You Decide 2007: Average Weekend". Unfortunately, Vista just crapped out because of activation b.s. (I even legally purchased it!) and I've been too busy with school to call up Microsoft and fix it. So no Vista means no Photoshop means I'm running Linux and using it's equivalent, The Gimp. 10 seconds into the edit I said "screw this".
Maybe I'm way off the point, but I love Microsoft's marketing stance here, wtf were they thinking with the Vista activation process?!

Regarding the G4 it's probably a hand me down. Future is always pretty good at getting the latest macs and then passes it down through the food chain - art editor - dep art ed - designer - prod ed - editor - writer etc.

Except in both pictures that's the Premium version of the console with the HDD included. Plenty of people out there (myself included) don't need the wi-fi adapter, the HD-DVD drive is not in any way necessary (especially if you don't yet care about HD movies, again myself included), and the Xbox Live subsciption is in no way mandatory, although I do think it's worth having.

Now, they did choose to use the Core price for the 360 and the more expensive version of the PS3 when saying you'd have £146 for beer, but any idiot would choose the Premium system anyway, making it $400 at most, or about £300, leaving you a handy £100 for beer if you so choose.
