For some odd reason -- and a most fortuitous one for us -- the rebate team never seems to quite get in sync with the launch team for a good percentage of handset launches, giving us tantalizing glimpses at the future of cellphones now and then, or at least a model name to go on. This time we've got all we could ask for out of this common snafu, since friendly tipster AJ managed to track down a rebate form for the much-rumored
Sidekick ID on T-Mobile's site that not only promises a handy $50 to whoever can navigate its tricksy questions, but also gives us a likely sounding April 18 launch date to mull over, along with our first full-on "press shots" of the phone. The cute, pared down exterior is further complemented by a selection of primary colors, as seen above, making this a likely pick for the budget-minded "I don't need no stinkin' EDGE data" fashionphone set. In fact, with prices like these ($99.99 after a $50 rebate), why not just buy 'em all to mix and match with your outfits? You know you want to.

Sidekick has too many different colors at once. They should limit the colors to two and use better quality materials.

This is goin got make the sidekick so poopular, that Danger is going to HAVEto come upwith one very advanced phone for their new crop of users who want more power, features and reliability. Look for the SKIV in 2008.
The thing may suck, but if it includes bluetooth (not likely from what I understand), I may finally be able to afford buying my girlfriend a Sidekick.
God, I can't even find a used SK3 on eBay for a decent price. Why do people like this thing so much?
I'm not sure why. I had a SK2 and now an SK3 and while I liked the 2, I've been frustrated that they didn't improve some things on the 3 and even made other things worse (like reliability. It restarts randomly for no apparent reason nearly every day). Found out last week that I'm out of contract, so as soon as that Helio Ocean hits the shelves I'm leaving my SK3 behind.
The iPhone, from what I understand, will not be as good as a Sidekick for messaging, as it doesn't do IM (just email and sms) and that virtual keyboard probably stinks for thumb typing, anyway.

I have a sidekick and i HATE it! its a piece of crap, cant wait for iphone.
I like that the corner buttons are bigger than the sk3.

the skID is actually..BANGIN! well by the looks of it anyway. Some teenagers would buy this in a heartbeat b/c most already have mp3 players and digital cameras. But i think preteens would want it more than anyone b/c its cheap and their parents could afford it. The skID's are gonne be sold out b4 u know it.
It looks completely awful. Very tacky and has none of the great features that everyone know the sidekick for.

I would love to mix and match the colors with my outfits. Also, would be perfect to text in and im in class.
Its a great little phone for the price.. I picked one up the day it came out, and have not been any happier with it.
