Ferrari-branded Acer c500 Pocket PC passes through FCC

This isn't the first Ferrari-branded Pocket PC we've seen from Acer, but they're still a relatively rare breed compared to the many, many Ferrari-themed laptops coming out of the company. Unfortunately, the FCC hasn't exactly given us the best look at the device's added stylings, but we do at least have a good idea of its specs, which are pretty much in line with its non-Ferrari namesake, Acer's c500 Pocket PC Travel Companion. That means you'll get Windows Mobile 5 for an OS, along with a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, a 300MHz Samsung 2442 processor, 64MB SDRAM, 128MB NAND flash, and built-in Bluetooth, WiFi, and GPS, with an SD slot to cover to expansion needs. As with most products that make their first appearance by way of the FCC, however, there's no word on pricing or availability.

PPPPPLEASE!!! All I have to do is order a red faceplate from a Jap website + Add a backround JPEG on the desktop of the Ferrari Logo.

Death by commas! Jeez who wrote this?

I'll take a wild stab and say it'll probably cost $3,000, and have roughly twenty minutes of battery life.

But at least you will have a Ferrari phone, and if you manage to get a car and a lappy you're pretty much set :)

Ferrari should be ashamed of itself for whoring out its renowned and revered name like this.

I though PDA's were dead?
This is a Pocket PC and not a Smartphone?
Am I the only one that thinks PDA's are still kinda cool....especially when you jam them with features?

if it doesn't have a Graphics Accelerator (intel 2700G, AMD (ATi) Imageon) it'll fail in the market

I suspect that most people who would be buying these would be buying them for the GPS more than anything. What few non phone PPCs still exist in the market seem to have gone primarily in that direction.

It's got a touchscreen! It's an iPhone clone!!!!
Sorry about that. For a minute, I thought I was on Gizmodo. I should have known better when 8 of the first 9 comments weren't about comparing this to an iPhone.
Sorry again that I took it there.

Ferrari have just brought on the guy who ran global branding for Red Bull. Hopefully he'll tighten things up a bit and the marque will pass on re-branding opportunities that are as far from the bleeding edge as is this Acer unit.

Here I thought Ferrari's were great... but if they're putting themselves on the same level as Acer... maybe I'd be better off saving some cash and getting a Hyundai or Kia. :-P (Note: complete sarcasm)
Seriously, Ferrari's marketing people need to do a little work to figure out who they should co-brand with... Acer? Bose? Ugh. What's next, Extreme PaintBrawl: Ferrari Special Edition? *shudder*
(Those unfamiliar with the 1998 PC game Extreme PaintBrawl, here's a hint: pc.ign.com gave it a 0.7 out of 10)
