Motorola set to unveil video-optimized handset

Speaking at this week's Software 2007 gathering in California, Motorola CEO Ed Zander took a break from his company's woes and struggles to share the news that Moto's got a rather exciting new phone waiting in the wings. Details were slim -- the phone was apparently just mentioned in passing as part of the speech -- but the as-yet-unnamed handset is said to be video-centric, capable of a solid 30 frames per second for enjoying movies via SD card. Like other hot Motorolas in recent memory, Zander indicated that it'd be slated for a European release when it's officially announced next week. Any guess as to what the four-letter MOTONAME for this one might be?

i like my rokr e6 because of its moto-linux platform and the decent screen size. if they could design something like the E6 but with a bigger screen, i would be the first to buy it. Go Moto!

How about Motorola gets their normal headsets right before they delve into video, how about fixing bluetooth headsets before anything. Id rather connect a tube between my ear and the speaker

It'll fit great when they boast about 'VUWR ratings' of their mobile content. They could even expand to a web demo, or as they'd call it, a 'preVUWR' of the phone.


As for the other 'Mark':

At least try to use a 4-letter name when you make paltry attempts. Heck, even STRNR would have been better, even if it breaks the letter count.

The Z8 is already marketed as video phone and ships with a full movie on its included microSD (in the UK, it is even called "Z8 Zoetrope")...which it plays back @ 30fps afaik...so, not that much new here?
