Is XM radio temporarily offline?
We're sure this has precisely nothing to do with the Opie and Anthony situation, but we're hearing that XM has temporarily stopped broadcasting -- Orbitcast claims they haven't had a signal since noon EST, with reports to them and us about service outages nationwide. Anyone else having problems with their XM feed? Sound off in comments!Update: Orbitcast got the following statement from XM: "We are experiencing a temporary degraded performance issue, which has affected some of our customers. We expect to return to normal service levels this evening."

Yes, signal is mostly out in Rhode Island, cuts in and out, but mostly out, throughout the entire 200+- channels. Pisses me off, just got my Audi Friday, and signed up for XM; must have been out of my mind...should have went with Sirius.
My XM has been in and out all day, im in Texas.
O&A Rule
ID4?
again.. my sirius works great.. But alas.. My Garmin is not working very well.. any connection.??
Getting signal from one satellite, but not the other, and not the local repeater.
Scratchy signal here in Los Angeles, CA.
Left for school around 12:30pm when I noticed it and it still continued when I came back around 3:30pm.
XM Sucks anyway, Sirius is the best.
No problems here, although it was much weaker than usual when going under trees, but in clear areas there were not problems. I've been using it all say since about 1 PM
Working great here, Houston TX.
Is this where we sign up to win a Sirius radio?
Missing MLB broadcasts now... this is pretty embarrassing for XM.
Yes, there's a note about this on XM's web site:
5/21 Service Degradation
You may be experiencing temporary degraded performance with your XM reception at the present time. XM is aware of the issue and working diligently to resolve it as soon as possible. We anticipate full signal strength will be restored by early Tuesday morning.
I am here in boston... no signal, tried calling the stupid indian call center... i was on hold for at least 45 min before I hung up. Ha, it may be easier the cancel the service O+A style.
No problems here....my Sirius works just fine....
9:06 pm in Boston watching 24 with no XM signal. Any word on the cause?
Had the same problem in So Cal, with the sginal going in and out, without rhyme or reason. Checked my antenna just to be sure! Glad to know it's not my radio.
Strange..downtown Dallas home XM not working since 5:30 PM CT today, but neighbor block away sez his XM is working fine. Go figure.
Mine is working fine! XM ROCKS!!!!!
Philadelphia PA been out since about noon... my neighbor said he was driving around and the sportcaster he had kept cutting in and out and reseting to channel 1.....
Originally I was mildly in favor of a merger, but now I see that its not a good idea. I have been an O&A fan for many years now, and if they are pulled from the air who can I shift my radio dollars to? Sirius? Nope it will be the same company. No way I can support the merger when they suspend two guys who have a history of being brash, and loyal following that depends on their brashness. Frankly they have toned it down a bit over the years (something I have not been thrilled about).
It's evening already and the service is still 'degraded' in other words, 'it sucks'. While in my car evertime I make a turn, get near a tree or go under a bridge the service interupts and I get annoying static feedback not just once, but twice.
Maybe there are increased sun spot activity. Sun flares are often the
catalyst of reduced microwave satellite transmissions.
XM Radio is very weak in Fresno, CA. Cutting in and out, no information on the display. Like Third World wannabe radioo or something.
Signal on car radio was cutting in and out this afternoon in NJ.
I'm glad I found this website. I have had XM in my car for about 3 months and now it is cutting out. I thought it was my radio in my car. Can we gat a discount on our bill if we continue to have bad reception? I know the cable company does it if your cable is having problems for a period of time.
Signal on car radio was cutting in and out this afternoon in NJ.
Signal was in and out in the Seattle, WA area
its broke here is phila tuesday morning.
As of this morning, 8am CST, Tues May 22, the signal is still spotty and sporadic. Though they are promising to have everything back to normal before noon (EST) today.
It 9:30 and im in Delaware and it works perfect for about 5 minutes then cuts out completly for about two then back to working. It needs to start working because i cant get through 2 days of work without any Comedy 150
They fixed the problem and I read somewhere that they were offering a 2-day credit for the time service was out, which amounts to about 87 cents. It's probably not worth the time you'd have to spend on the phone.
Here in DC the signal was in and out during my AM commute.
MD-VA area, 22 May around 10am, still unstable signal
I'm having trouble as well by Chicago. Open stretches of highway, in neighborhoods, whereever. Glad to know it's not something wrong with my radio/antennae.
Mine has been intermittent,
Who cares. I suspened my radio for 30 days pening the o&A outcome. I dont listen to anythinng eles on XM so why pay for it. If they are not back on the air I will cancel it and send them the smashed remains of the unit. If they didnt plan to merge id switch back to Sirius.
I'm glad I came across this thread, My xm in the car keeps cutting in and out, I was starting to think it was my equipment.
Since some fools here seem intent on making this a Sirius vs XM debate, I'll bite:
I'd rather have a once-in-a-blue-moon service outage than have to listen to Sirius' infinitely inferior programming. That's what it's all about - the programming. I have some experience in this - the programmers at XM (who, as falsely reported by on earlier poster, are NOT revolting en masse) put together a much better package of stations and cutting-edge playlists than do their counterparts at Sirius. That much is simply not debatable.
As to XM's current problem - since it is a problem with the repeater and satellite link, it is effecting cities that are more dependent upon repeaters. I'm in LA, which is very dependent. According to a close friend at XM, the problem is fixed.
I can't wait for the day Sirius experiences a problem like this so all the XM people can come out and trumpet how much better their service is.
xm signal in tucson az is strong here and the radio display that display terrestrail signal has a signal
NO SIGNAL this morning.
Been a subscriber for years (first 500,000). This is the first time that this has happened.
I thought about cancelling if XM didn't do something about O&A.
