Although QNAP was indeed one of the
forerunners in getting PC-less downloads into the
NAS arena, it's been a tick since the firm pumped out anything new, but those looking for a multifaceted drive have found their match. The TS-100 supports SATA drives up to 750GB is extendable to 1.5TB by an eSATA and USB 2.0 port, operates as a UPnP media server, iTunes music server, remotely accessible hard drive, and "non-stop"
BitTorrent /
P2P client that can keep those downloads runnin' so long as it's being fed an internet connection. Furthermore, the device sports a trendy white / silver finish, a fanless design, comes pre-loaded with the company's QGet download management software. No word just yet on price nor availability, but we're guessing it'll hit around the $300 mark when it lands.

What's the law like on this sort of product? I can't imagine that they'd avoid some sort of lawsuit for this...

Torrenting isn't illegal. There are lots of legal torrents.

I have the TS101. I am not sure what the difference is between the TS100 and the TS101. From what I can tell, the difference s the TS100 is white, and the TS101 is black.
The TS101 does GREAT as a NAS, the gigabit network adapter can handle a large load. The automated backup feature works good.
However the BitTorrent download is sluggish, an old laptop with a USB HD downloads faster. (What I use) And the webserver is limited. (I use the aboge old laptop)
If you try to use too many of it's features at once, it will become sluggish and need to be rebooted.

I can't figure out the difference either. TS-101 is great, I got one in December and put a 500GB HD in. I now download every show I miss and stream it to by Xbox360. It comes with TwonkyMedia installed as a UPnP server.

Wonder if it will run cooler than the 101.

Cybie @ May 21st 2007 9:47PM
Dude, what about data protection? it should've had 2 disks, then I might've considered it.

Cool, thanks Ron!

The price seems to be highly acceptable. Even though the speed is not fast, I still can let it on all day long without my PC on. No fan, even better. Got to put quite a few torrents in when I am away from home!!!
