LCDArm's Safety Shield protects your HDTV from your Wii
On your fifth HDTV since buying a Wii? Yeah, we are too -- maybe it's time to get your display a little something designed to protect it against the occasional glancing blow from an errant Wiimote. Sketchy though the Taiwanese company's site may seem (apologies in advance, we're not clear on any US distributors), LCDArm claims its impact-resistant Safety Shield passes through 98% of light, reduces UV, and, of course, is the ideal candidate for protecting your high-def investment from your decidedly low-def motion-sensitive console, whose controller has been occasionally known to fly out of the hands of adoring fans with truly horrific results.

Stop spamming the Engadget comments section with your stupid Linkin Park URL. The album sucks, every album after "Hybrid Theory" was terrible and unfocused. Quite frankly, I grew out of LP after my 16th birthday.
Please stop.

What are you, illiterate? Take your fanboi-ness elsewhere.
That said, I still find it hard to believe that people actually have this problem with flying Wiimotes. But I guess if you spent that much money on a television, a little extra insurance can't hurt.
John Doe @ May 23rd 2007 6:40PM
Or as an alternative you could...Yes I know this idea is really out there, but hear me out... Get a damn grip on your Wiimote. Seriously people who are launching these things are retards. That shield should also include a helmet for when they also fling their arm so hard that they fall over and smash their head on the arm of the couch.
Morons.
3 Months of Wiiing and not a single instance of it slipping. These people must have the hand eye coordination of a 6 month old retard chimp.
Radish @ May 23rd 2007 7:26PM
I don't know anyone who owns a Wii, but how do they hold up to flying Matchbox cars? My two-year-old nephew enjoys throwing everything, and my brother-in-law loves his TV more than life itself...

AWESOME :D
myscrnnm @ May 23rd 2007 7:41PM
So, this is what it's come to. The Wii is so poorly designed that you need protective equipment for the rest of your home entertainment centre just to use it.
akidan @ May 23rd 2007 7:49PM
Hah.. I award you best use of sarcasm in a post.
Mark @ May 23rd 2007 8:31PM
Seriously... get a grip!
Big @ May 23rd 2007 9:35PM
TRUTH SAID !
This is ridiculous - you gotta protect your TV from a thrown wii mote.
Most of Wii's games are garbage simply because they have to be dummed down for the pitful motion sensor interface, they are pitiful ports of 360/PS3 games... and if they are made to work with the regular wii gamepad then the entire reason for buying the wii comes into question.
I haven't seen a single Wii game get more than a B+ grade unless:
#1 it had the name MARIO in the title
#2 it was a classic arcade game in virtual console or
#3 it was Zelda.
My young cousins have the Wii and they are FOREVER trying to get ahold of my Gears of War...NO WAY...keep playing your MPAA rated "K-A", "TEEN" and "E" garbadge.
I don't let em touch my PS3 or 360.
You should see their eyes light up with glee when I force them to watch me play 'Gears' and I chainsaw an enemy to death.

You are a good influence to our younger generation, and a valuable member of this community, keep posting.

Jamar @ May 24th 2007 6:28AM
Right, maybe your cousins are weird, because I didn't like violent games at any stage of my life that could be considered "young". I certainly like most games for the Wii and hate Gears of War and Halo with a passion. The only reason I would ever get a PS3 is Railfan (you're probably a bit too "dumb" to know what that is, though- look it up), and I have no reason to get a 360. Wii is enough for me, and if motion sensing is "dumbed-down" then so be it.
wayde96 @ May 23rd 2007 10:31PM
man, y'all fanboys crack me up. you'd think someone so certain with their "religion" wouldn't be so easily provoked to constantly defend it.
anyway, this is crazy! y stop there, how bout a nice transparent dome to play in so da whole room's safe?! Mark said it perfect, please get a grip!
Rick Lyon @ May 24th 2007 12:15AM
Too bad, by not adding '...& your kids" to their marketing slogan they are missing out on a potentially huge consumer base.
Ferny @ May 24th 2007 1:24AM
are those "peace symbol" speakers symbolic?
Paul @ May 24th 2007 2:47AM
Chicks dig Wii Sports way more than PS3 or 360
When Mario Party comes out for the Wii in 7 days, not only will chicks dig the Wii, they will swoon for it.
Crowskie @ May 24th 2007 3:47AM
This is kinda like the new generation's plastic sofa cover, right?
ACHOO!!! @ May 24th 2007 7:09AM

Ken @ May 24th 2007 6:31PM
