We know it's probably a big deal for
AMD and all, but we just weren't all that shocked to find out that
Toshiba will shortly
follow in Dell's wake and
sell AMD-based laptops in the US and Europe. We really don't see much reason for these guys to hold out at this point -- which is probably why they're not anymore. Anywho, it's estimated a comparably equipped AMD machine will in some cases sell for over $80 less than Intel based machines, so you penny-pinching deal freaks might want to hang on before shelling out for that next Satellite.

How is this news? Toshiba has had AMD based laptops for many years. I have a 333 MHz K6-II Satellite model from the late 90s that still saw some use until recently. It's still lurking in a closet in case there should ever be desparate need.

If they could just keep those crappy ATI XPress 200m graphic cards out of the equation...

Seriously those cards are worthless and ATi has some the worst drivers and software I have ever had the misery of seeing. One of my desktops with an AMD processor started deteriorating with a few months of use. AMD has lost the very little favor I had in it. Intel before Intel forevermore.
