The ring mouse from Global Link for convenient cursoring
Over at Computex in Taipei, Global Link is showing off a "Ring Mouse" which straps to your finger and allows for cursoring on pretty much any surface, including your thumb. The plastic case and strap means that this is probably not something you'd want to propose with, but the design is chunky enough so that unsuspecting passers-by in cafes will understand why you're repeatedly stroking your thigh. It's hard to tell how the mouse operates (is that a ball or a frickin' laser?), and we've no idea about pricing or availability, but that tends to be how it goes with these zany foreign gadgets.

Ah yes, nothing so convenient as having a cord to my computer and block around my hand. Man, if there was only some device, some sort of pad, which would move the cursor in response to touch, yet was actually built into your laptop, eliminating the need for a cord while freeing up your hand, now THAT would be amazing.

I second that idea. I don't know why no one has thought of that before!!

Touch Pads are the bane if laptops everywhere. If the masses were not completely inept all notebooks would have TrackPoints instead of these useless touch pads.

Bought something similar here, it goes great for my Fujitsu laptop as I like to keep things a minimalist as possible.

im guessing they will find a way to shink it down and connect it to the computer in a wireless way.
hmm, maybe this will be the usage area that those MIT people working on wireless power needed ;)

they should put it on the back of your hand and put the buttons at your finger tips so it can have room for wireless connection

I had a 'fingermouse' back in 99 which was more compact than that. It was hard to type with something on my finger. No way I'd try gaming or typing with that blocky thing.

Don't you guys see? This isn't for gaming or convience, this is meant for scrolling through porn while rubbing yourself. Screw ambidexterity!

I like, very much, that this design doesn't force one's hand into that standard wrist-aching palms down position. I admit, I still don't understand why (other than for precision tasks) the vertical mice haven't fully taken over. I'm calling this a step forward...and I'm sure that's a mini-trackball, not a laser.
