Keepin' it real fake, part LXI: E-PDA V16 mocks Nokia N95
Can't afford the $750 or so required to pick up a Nokia N95 right now? Fret not, as the Chinese knockoff factories have been workin' overtime in order to crank out a somewhat similar alternative to fit the bill. The E-PDA V16 comes in a bit larger than the authentic iteration and includes a three-inch QVGA touchscreen, three-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, multimedia player, and a touch of tacky to top things off. Of course, any of your pals that are in the know won't be impressed by your futile attempts to fool 'em, but considering that this thing won't cost you nearly as much coin as the real deal, it might be worth the embarrassment (or not). Catch a few more snapshots of the impostor after the jump.

Watch out for the incoming flames about how the Chinese invented everything ever made and that everyone in the world is actually copying the Chinese.
makethemove+engadge @ Jun 12th 2007 8:42AM
hopefully, the Chinese can donate some of the profits to Nokia in a few months for copycatting...
I presume Nokia will wait till the profit grows a lil bigger...then come right back in the back.
What do ya say? Thou shall not steal :-)

are the chinese doing the world a favor by cloning (not sheep) but electronic gadgets? the price is definitely cheaper but would they last?
can nokia get back at them? i doubt... they (chinese) actually cloned a car from chevrolet... chevrolet filed a case (intellectual rights, etc.) but lost the case....
should we patronize clones? i myself am confused...

Man, I love the Nokia 95. It is like the hottest phone out there right next to the iPhone (and maybe even more). I tried one yesterday, and I was just blown away. I'm planning on buying one soon. Does anyone here have one, and can tell me if there's anything I should know about it? Like something bad that I should know?
About the chinese rip-off, it's just subtley looks like the Nokia 95. A person could probaly see the difference real fast. No rip-off is going to take place of the real deal.

That knockoff doesn't look half bad actually.
JER @ Jun 12th 2007 10:37AM
There is nothing wrong with the nokia n95, i have two one for my wife and one for me. It's awesome. but truth be told my wife only see's it as another phone she just does not see it for more than that. i would tell every one to get one... ok wait i thought of one bad thing about mine, (its purple)

STOP WRITING "after the jump"! THERE IS NO JUMP!!
Dustin @ Jun 13th 2007 2:56AM
What are you talking about? when you see a long post from the main page, it will only show the second half "after the jump" i.e. when you click "Continue reading ..."
oh and btw, calm down.
TeeKay @ Jun 12th 2007 2:22PM
i'm a chinese.
and i'm shame on myself as a citizen of a country that is full of copycats and piracy.
but one thing i can tell you--- chinese never regrets what they do, no matter how wrong it is.

I'm HongKongese ... I understand most ppl (inc. myself) always use the outlook to identify stuffs are copycatting or not... However, this time we are all wrong!
First of all, this mobile phone's selling point, I bet no one knows! Low price ? No! Copycatting outlook ? No! so what's that? "Dual Sim slot" with "Dual channel Standby" !!! Suprise ? Yes, I'm the one. Anyone could tell which mobile phone factory can do ? What else? yes...there is some more... Touch screen, bundle with 2 batteries, cost $1050 HKD... LOL.. wht the hell...
PS : My mate got one.
Bushrod @ Jun 13th 2007 8:47AM
Well, don't I just feel stupid right now. Guess that's what I get for using a Google gadget to keep up with new articles instead of checking the main page. Sorry, but incorrectly using "after the jump" is a pet peeve of mine.

Note the bit where he says "Firstly, you are bidding for a Nokia N95 (copy). It is not the phone originally manufactured by the Nokia. It's designed with the nokia N95 in mind for the style conscious!!!"

Isn't it true that the Chinese had a technologically advanced civilization before the Europeans climbed out of the mud? I'm not Chinese so don't disparage the Chinese from this comment. Still, what difference does it make who invented it first? It really matters who improved upon the design. A stone wheel does not make a radial tire. That Nokia knock-off doesn't look half-bad, but is it really any good.

..just bought E-PAD V16. looks cool actually. Nokia phones are just user-friendly which makes it easy to use for newbiez..but E-PAD V16 is just complicated at first, but once u get familiar with it, it really comes in handy! can't blame the Chinese guys if they're talented..they can make everything into business and profit.
