They sound great but Toshibas quality control and service is crappy. I've gone thru two of their notebooks in the past year, and they wouldn't fix them under warranty, they just stopped working - both with motherboard failure.

17" or not, there's no excuse for how THICK it is. They could have easily stuffed all of that into about half the thickness with just as good cooling. If it's anything like the 7600vs7700 then there's not much to look forward to performance wise over the 8600.
