Dude, I just switched from a MacBook Pro to D420 and I'm very happy. As sleek as the MacBook Pro is, it is huge. Granted, you should know it when you buy it but as far as I'm concerned it is a desktop replacement, not a mobile computer. And It has horrible battery life - around 2 hours. I hear the new Santa Rosa ones have better battery life but I'm sure they don't come near the ~4 hours of the D420. And them MacBook Pro heats a lot. I repeat - heats alot. The fans are often in overdrive to keep it cool and I just gut one replaced because it died. Out of warranty. Ouch! In short - beautifull but not well engineered machine. The D420 - boring but extremely useful. The biggest drawback is the mediocre display. It hink it's unforgivable to have such a losy display in 2007. But it's a display that you can take with you almost anywhere because the machine is small, light and runs very cool. Just my 2 cents
