The iPhones have landed, iPlan in tow
Day one of iPhone release week begins today dear friends, so you can expect a flurry of activity throughout the week as we ready for Friday the 29th. The first iPhone shipments began arriving this past weekend at various airports across the nation -- apparently greeted by armed personnel -- and will soon be in the loving arms of FedEx. The shipping plans for Friday call for FedEx drivers to deliver the goods in teams (one must carry the boxes, the other wields a big stick) for the 6pm store opening. The Boy Genius may have found some details on the iPhone data plan, purportedly dubbed the "iPlan." The word is that this unlimited data plan -- unlimited at EDGE speeds is, of course, by definition a bit limiting -- will squeeze your wallet for between $34 and $44 dollars and may include 2,000 or unlimited text messages. Keep an eagle eye on AT&T's site for that; we can't all get into line on Friday without knowing what we're signing up for, right? We hope?

$44 bucks for data on this thing. Outrageous considering what they currently charge for PDA data. Man I hope AT&T does not take the low road and just fleeces the crap out of people they know will get the phone no matter what. That might work for a quarter, but will kill them long run. They can either build good will long term or permanently kill consumers view of them. $44 buck would go a long way towards killing it.
AT&T already charges $40/month for their PDA data plan... I should know, I almost bought one before they let that little nugget of information slip.
While $40 is outrageous to begin with, $44 for data and 2000 text messages is less so.
I'm just wondering if we will be _required_ to buy the iPlan with the iPhone. I'm already an AT&T customer and my current plan is fine with me. I have no interest in EDGE internet or SMS. I rarely text anyone and if I'm not in range for free fast WiFi I won't be surfing the internet.
Must...resist...iPhone...RDF...too...strong...
If there isnt an allyoucaneat plan, peoples are gonna be pissed. I wonder if Apple has anything to do with the price plan...
Either way, if ATT is going to charge people a premium for surfing on WIFi for, say, maps and widget stuff, again, peoples are going to be pissed. Fo-sho.
i think that its completely unfair to consumers to wait until the last week to realease plan options. i love apple but they're whole "secrets" strategy is absolute bullshit and really could hurt iphone sales in the end. for 500 fucking dollars i deserve to know what im buying into, especially if it involves contracts.
Smartest. Engadget. Reply. Ever.
So wait. Who says you have to get one the day it comes out? Wait for solid info, then do your research and make comparisons. And if they're sold out by the time you do that, you'll wait a few months to get one. If this is a problem for you, it's just one you'll have to deal with.
I am not sure if their strategy will hurt sales at all. It's no secret that the iphone is way over-hyped. They want people to buy it without knowing everything. If they have days/weeks/months to sit and ponder the purchase, there is a very good chance the consumer will talk himself/herself out of the purchase. This is a proven strategy for Apple.
The less people know about it, the better. Their target market, especially the psychotic apple fanboys (not saying you ALL are psychotic) don't give a rats ass about the quality of the product (see: iPod), all they know is that they are supposed to really want one... and for no reason, think its better than what is currently available. The Apple execs see this and are taking full advantage of it. They expect to (and probably will) sell out on opening day.
AT&T jerk: "You want to research and compare phones? go ahead, if you want, but these will be sold out by the time you finish... but you can get it in a couple weeks when we get more!"
Impulsive Consumer: "Well, i've been waiting for a long time... and I don't really have time to... well... its pretty expen... I... ok, i'll take it. I don't wanna wait a few weeks if I decide i want it."
I have to agree here, I also found out that there are even more secrets to come (yea, big surprise I know). Look for a large announcement on Weds. from an unlikely source, which may turn a lot of opinions about the iPhone around.
for real! just do some research PLUS everyone knows that apple is going to come out with a new phone or something once practicly everyone buys the iPhone....its just going to happen so i say your best bet is to wait and research before you go sighing contracts and all
iPlan = iRipYouOff
ugh, still buying one though.
You fail at life... Now pull your pants down, grab your ankles and take the $500 beating.
When I first heard about the phone I was so excited, I told myself I was defiantly going to buy it. But the more and more I heard about the phone it makes me want to phone less and less. I have $750 (extra cash for the phone and a case or whatnot) saved up for the phone but I might be spending it elsewhere. Poor iphone I had such high hopes for you.
So you might end up settling for a WM smartphone that you'll have to reset at least once a day, has poor memory management, and much lower storage space?
You have got to be joking me....
What did you expect to pay for unlimited data plan? Your a complete moron if you think it was going to be less than ~$40.
Sorry you saved up at all, why would you have even wasted your time if you run away once you hear the cost of the data plan. Are you a complete moron?
@Sherlock Homez
I pay ATT 24.99 for my unlimited data plan on my great 8525 which has speeds higher than edge.
The only thing that will make it worth it, is unlimited text. I pay 19.99 more for the unlimited text so all together around $45 for all my data, unlimited.
But on the gripping hand, he'll have a phone that can do high speed data, runs a vast library of third party apps, has a usable keyboard, a better choice of carriers, a replacable battery, and wont cost anywhere near $600 with subsidy.
Sherlock Homez
I pay $15 for unlimited data and $15 for unlimited text on Sprint so yeah, $44 is way too much.
Note to T-Bone...
I've owned two WM Smartphones - an iMate SP3i and my current HTC Wizard (T-Mobile MDA), and sorry - they don't lock up every day. In fact, I can't recall the last time they locked up. And yes, I have a lot of skanky stuff installed (I'm a developer, ya see).
I'm not sure what you mean by 'poor memory management' other than perhaps the fact that it will leave small apps running. That's not hard to fix if it's a real problem. Again, it's never been a significant issue for me.
As for lower storage space - depends on how you compute it. See - there's one thing I can do with my Wizard or SP3i that you can't do with your iPhone... I can add more memory. Most of my installed apps are sitting in a 2GB memory card leaving most of the memory free for running apps.
4GB and 8GB miniSD and microSD cards are on the way and aren't that expensive.
Oh.. and there's one other thing I can do with my phones that you can't do with an iPhone - write and install REAL apps and add-ons. So if I don't *like* the apps that came with the phone, I'm not stuck with them. HTC has already written a user interface shell to bring some of the iPhone features to their HTC Touch. It's just a matter of time before someone writes a full iPhone-like suite - it's not that difficult.
And let's not forget text input - which a growing number of reviewers are calling out as being 'not that good' on the iPhone (as reported here on Engadget). On the smartphones like the SP3i we get T9 since they're not touch screen, but on the PocketPC Phones like the Wizard, we get block letter (aka Graffiti), character letter (aka Jot), virtual keyboard (large and small keys with gesture and word prediction) and of course handwriting reco, which works VERY well. The Wizard also adds a slide out physical keyboard that hides away when you don't need it.
Oh.. and one more thing...
The Wizard only cost $399 at T-Mobile. it's successor - the HTC Wing is better and even cheaper - just $299 right now ($499 retail with $200 discounts). Even their 'unlimited' data plans are similar...
Which reminds me - $33-$44 for a dataplan - does that include any airtime minutes? Or are you going to have to buy TWO plans - one for data and one for voice?
@Sherlock Homez
I figured the data plan would be in the ball park of 15-25 dollars, sorry I made the assumption based on all the phone carriers. But good job making yourself look like an ass. Hi-5

@Jeff Lewis:
It seems I've hit a nerve with the WM crowd. I never expected my comments to get voted down. The only reason I bring it up is because while WM does offer quite a lot and I really appreciate it, it sometimes really sucks. I've installed maybe 4 common applications on my PDA and use it mostly for basic PIM and it still occasionally locks up. I don't know why(I actually do) people put up with devices that will freeze when they aren't even being pushed close to their limits. I think you just got lucky.
A Motie engineer could give the iPhone a replaceable battery AND GPS using copper wire and a toothpick.
Its at times like this when I love being a T-Mobile customer with my $6 EDGE :) and $50 Dash :).
JAmerican
$34-$44 is too much for edge speeds or any dataplan for that matter. Hell my home 12MB cable is only $49, and that works for unlimited data and unlimited devices, it's rediculus that cell companies think they can charge so much for phone data, which uses a fraction of what computer data does.
Currently I enjoy unlimited data on cingular erm, the "new" AT&T, using Unlimited Media Net for $14.99 on my 8525 so I guess I'll stick with that.
No iPhone for yuo!
The iPlan reportedly at that price comes with not only unlimited data, but also unlimited texting. Currently I sit at $40/month for that with AT&T. So $45/month is not that far of a stretch.
I think it's all those darn towers and transmitter/receivers they have to put up everywhere so you get good reception that boosts up the costs.
$40 a month is nothing for a person living in America. I know guys that spend that much money on beer in a weekend. Do you realize how much money is spent every day on legalized numbers and lottery tickets. Not to mention casinos. Come on. This is the land of plenty. Sell your guzzler SUV and buy a sensible compact car and the money you save on gas in a month will easily pay for your iPhone contract. Better still, sell your car and ride public transportation so you can talk or look at videos on your iPhone while commuting to and from work.
How about giving up going out to baseball games, movies and fast food places. That'll save a ton of money. Put your whole life into your iPhone, forget that other useless stuff. Get a second job.
This is partly sarcasm, partly fact. Do whatever is necessary to manage your iPhone costs, but don't say it's impossible in this great land of opportunity.
I think the blame lies with AT&T for the plan. Apple just signed a contract for them to be exclusive with AT&T and charged them for that privilege. Now AT&T sees nothing but $$ and is going to rape the consumer for the entire time it's exclusive. If I become interested, I'll wait for the Nano version next year when my T-Mobile Contract expires. Hmmm, Of course my company has an exclusive contract to buy from AT&T and we get discount plans. No, wait, stick to my guns, wait 'til next year. But I could get hit by a bus and die never having owned an iPhone, must buy now! No, wait, wife will kill me the day I walk in with a $500 phone, must resist! Maybe she would bury me with a fully charged battery in the phone or run a cable to the gravestone connecting to the iSolar charger!
Promise her good sex for a month (and deliver) and maybe she won't mind you getting an iPhone.
LOL. Very true. We have actually discussed jumping to AT&T but we are gonna wait until our contracts expire in January. Even with our discounts on the plans, AT&T is too expensive at this time.
Don't let AT&T fool you. you could get media net and it works fine on
edge non-3G lines. never pay 34 for just unlimited data. media nte is
20 bucks per month i have on my nokia and it works fine on edge.
That's a good theory Jay, and it will be interesting to see if it is true. But don't discount the chances that AT&T/Apple might have broken that with the design of the iPhone. For example, try putting your SIM with your unlimited medianet in Cingular's Blackberry 8700C. The network will refuse your data connection. So, while most phones will just connect up with the unlimited medianet, not all will, and I have a suspicion that the iPhone is one that wont.
I'm more curious to see whether or not you will be locked out of wi-fi if you don't have an Edge plan.
Motorcycle. But I remember when I bought my Moto smartphone from Cingular a couple of years ago...I had to go to a couple of stores before I was able to get their non-PDA data plan (for the cheaper price).
Last year when I upgraded to the 3125, I went to the same store and basically just renewed my contract so not as big of an issue (except that my 1000 text messages was chopped down to like 100 or 200).
Who cares about this iphone?
Not me! It's slightly innovative software, lousy data speeds and lousy for emails and communications apart from voice. It's also EXPENSIVE. My Sprint based Palm Treo 955P cost me arounf $275.00 has vastly better email integration, much faster data speeds and I have a 4 GB card in it.
In short can we ban all iphone related postings until at least this thing launches and has it's 15 minutes of fame.
Ian, How much did that 4GB card cost ya?
Vastly better email integration? Well, this is true for corporate exchange users. Otherwise, the iPhone's email seems to be quite nice.
Also add the cost of the 4GB card to the price of your phone. Still comes out cheaper than the iPhone to be sure, but you start inching closer to $499 (which is a non-subsidized price, unlike the Treo).
Did the 4gb card come with your Treo? If it didn't how much was it?
1) Yes I agree Treo has excellent Corporate EMailing ability
2) 4GB Card cost $40.00
I suspect that $499 will be the AT&T best possible price for the iphone.
Just give her a $500 gift card to Macy's and you're covered.
LOL!
It works fine on edge and 3G. It worked great with my 8125, and works even better with my 8525. STAY AWAY from the PDA plans, they serve no purpose other than to steal your money.
I think ATT needs to throw in access to their Wi-Fi networks with the ability to roam at others. Think how many people are going to be paying for T-Mobile hotspots in Starbucks on their iPhones lol.
I have unlimited data for 19 bucks a month, and yes it's EDGE. I was afraid AT&T would do this, get all greedy and extort people buying the iPhone. To quote Cartman from South Park: "Weeeeeeeak!"
Ouch! I almost talked myself back into buying one of these, but not I might as well stick with what I have at that data plan price.
hey does that 'Iphone on board' graphic come as a sticker to attach on my car window...
yeah but you have to sign up for the iplan and then pay an extra 50 dollars for the sticker :p.
Motorcycle. But I remember when I bought my Moto smartphone from Cingular a couple of years ago...I had to go to a couple of stores before I was able to get their non-PDA data plan (for the cheaper price).

Good Job for ATT. They see a business opportunity and they go for it. This is a product that is in extreme high demand, they shoul do everything they can do to optimize profits. This will have no negative effect on sales.
I work for sales at AT&T and I think $34-$44 for the "iplan" would be great! (If this is true) That's about the same as it is for a PDA plan; I was worried they were going to charge $59-$79 a month for the "iplan", that would be outragous. I think the phone price is what's crazy, but people will still pay it.
34. yeah right. folks stay away from att's pda plan! go for the media net. same speed ssame benefits for 20 bucks.
you gotta be kinding me mr. att employee.

You're right, no iPhone for me. I'll just wait for the Windows Mobile based knock offs - then I'll get hte best of both worlds:
Real third party app support
Customizable
3G speeds
Cool interface
Etc, etc etc
And it'll work on my media net plan, no having to spend $45.
Don't forget that you'll still have to drag some of the worst of both worlds with you. Things like constant freezing. I have a fairly new PDA and even with light use I still have to reset it too frequently.
It doesn't matter that your reasoning is sensible, practical and logical.... You still won't have an iPhone. So beautiful ladies won't come up to you saying, "Wow, you're an iPhone sort of guy and they just turn me on. Let's trade digits."
You probably only saw the edited version of the iPhone tour demo. You should see the uncut version.
With a nick like Constable Odo, it'll be a miracle ANY ladies come up to you, even with the irresistible sex appeal of an iPhone.
The first rule about iPhone knockoffs is you don't talk about iPhone knockoffs.
Well, you do know that the iPhone IS a LG knock-off to begin with, right?
Odo, no disrespect, but if you really think you're going to pick up the ladies with an iPhone, well, I guess that's the advantage of being a character in a television series - fantasy is normal for you. :)
Odo, no disrespect, but if you really think you're going to pick up the ladies with an iPhone, well, I guess that's the advantage of being a character in a television series - fantasy is normal for you. :)
Its no different from their current PDA connect plans (I pay 39.99 for just data, and another 2.99 for 200 text messages). Yes, I am getting screwed, but that was the plan being forced on me when I bought my 8125 to get the rebate on the phone. I obviously will not make that mistake again, but still, its not out of line with what their current pda plans are.
And for those of you using media net, CingulATT have been slowly but surely disabling that plan on people using it for their PDAs (as they can tell who is using a PDA type device) market by market. Enjoy it while you can.....
Can’t wait for the “I was on the subway diddling my iPhone and all of a sudden, POW, ZAP, ZONK (Batman speak for beatdown), woke up in the, um, what, what was I saying again? Memory loss stories. Moral of the Story? Show some restraint. Don’t be a BIG public iPhone braggart/show-off. :^)...
Um...OK, and the something, something data plan.
I don't think the prices for the plan are that bad so long as it comes with messaging as well. I'm just irritated that you have to sign a 2-year contract.
Lucky that you guys get an iPlan. Here in Canada, Rogers said that when the iPhone is released sometime around December, we will NOT be getting any special kind of plan. Here, 1GB of mobile data costs about $4000. That's right. $4000. The absolute best plan that exists is 200MB for $100, and $5 per MB thereäfter. I would take that iPlan in a heartbeat.
Oh wow! Why does Canada get charged so much? That's complete highway robbery right there.
Not just Canada. I'm in Australia, and not only is there no such thing as an unlimited plan (even on our home broadband plans, which are also extortionate) we don't even get to see an iPhone for at least another 6 months. On the up-side, it might just work as advertised by then, we'll let you guys sort out any hassles for us, including compatibility with a decent speed network ;-)
And if Bell and Telus merge to become Telco Bell, you KNOW it's going to get worse. It'll be interesting how this plays for the iPhone which is so heavily Internet centric. Again, since you can't install apps, you're dependent on web access to run 'Web 2.0 + Ajax' apps.
Hopefully companies like Rogers and Shaw will get a cable-internet based WiMax system up sooner than later (like Rogers' Portable Internet) and we can get some VoIP only phones going.
As soon as Rogers merged with Fido (our only two GSM companies), they cancelled all unlimited plans. Rogers at the time was charging $50 per month for "unlimited access" (which was actually only up to 20MB), and Fido was charging $50 per month for actual unlimited. But yep, the CRTC didn't block the sale, and now there's a GSM monopoly.
Then yeah, we have CDMA companies like Telus and Bell. Eww.
Imagine how you're going to feel when you drop it.
I think I will wait until the pushbutton iPhone comes out.
I'm too old to start learning how to use a rotary phone.
Is anyone else worried about an iVirus?
Fairly improbable. The nature of cellphones makes them fairly resistant to viruses. It's a telling point that Windows Mobile is essentially Windows Lite, but no one's ever found a virus for it in the wild. Drives companies like Symantec and McAfee crazy since they have anti-virus apps for WM devices...
And no one buys them. :)
I have a Nokia E61. Its $44 a month for the data plan, $20 a month for unlimited text, and $70 a month for the voice part. The iPhone will run $140 minimum a month.
Yeah, that's what every one seems to be missing.
Sure the data plan will be $34 - $44 per month but you still have to pay for voice on top of that. AT&T is already the highest voice plan carrier around.
But, you guys want the iPhone so bad AT&T would be stupid not to take you for every dime they can squeeze out of you. Some of you guys sound like you would happily go into more debt just so you can say you have the latest.
Good luck with that. I like seeing greenbacks in my bank accounts and keeping a high credit score too much to fall for the iPhonery.
I'm not worried about anything regarding the iphone as I am not getting it today or any other day.
Actually thinking abotu it now these prices don't make sense. I don't know if I believe them. There current data plans for unlimited are $20. Why would they change that for this phone? It doesn't jive.
For what it's worth Verizon charges $45 for unlimited PDA plan for EVDO. No free texting.
(They had free texting included undersome business plans but when I upped hte number of minutes their system wouldn't allow
the free text)
Seems with the approach to the iPhone you'll need an unlimited plan or be in for a rude surprise b how much internet time it uses up.
I don't understand all the fuss about the pricing, I went to the ATT website, and there you will find unlimited data plans with 1500 messages starting at around 44 dollar to almost 100 depending on the phone ...
I'm going nutz. Please someone tell me if I can:
Go buy an iPhone, cancel the plan, and take it back to Canada where I live? Yeah, I won't be able to phone with it but hell, it'll replace my T3 and my iPod Video! :)
What are you guys complaining about? Most current plans for unlimited data, unlimited texting and phone are in the range of $80-85 for a single user. The "iplan" seems to be about $5 cheaper. Maybe y'all have been living in denial all this time and or don't realize how much your current plan is data and phone is costing you.
This phone is cheap, at least by UK Standards which leads me to believe you Yanks are either a) spoilt or b) us Brits are being Royally ripped off (or both of course).
Let me explain. The current exchange rate between the pound sterling (that's the currency we have in Britain to the less geographically knowledgeable of you) and the dollar is 1:2. Before I dip into the maths I should say that in the Uk we get our phones free with a contract so contract prices are higher for a reason, but you do pay a small amount (say £50-£100 for the latest and greatest such as Apple's new baby). I'm going to be generous and assume this thing will be free.:
So the price of the phone is $600 or £300
Now in the Uk an unlimited voice plan for a month is around £25 ($50). Unlimited data plans are almost nonexistent but you'd be looking at easily double that - so £50 or $100. I'm going to err on the side of caution and reduce that figure by 10% to £45 or $90 This is compared to the $44 (upper limit) for a data plan in the US. I'm going to be extra generous to those Apple haters and up that figure by $10 to $55 (£27.50) for an all-in voice and data plan.
This means that in the UK the cost of the phone would be free (an assumption that could well be wrong and would in any case only be an option available only to new customers or those coming to the end of a contract)
So the total cost will be 24*45 = £1,080 or $2,160
While in the US:
600 + 24*55 = $1,920
Over two years and with a number of very generous assumptions the iphone works out as $240 cheaper than in the UK. Nobody in their right mind should be claiming this thing is overpriced.
Good luck getting an iPhone for that price, but I think it's a little of both, as far as us being spolied, and you guys getting ripped off. It's whatever the market will bear, and I just don't think we'd put up with that here. I could be wrong though.
Well, there's a huge error in your logic. Data plans do not include cell phone usage for incoming/outgoing calls. Calls are priced according to your VOICE plan, which is completely independant of any data plans you may be paying for. Also, unlike in the UK, AT&T/Cingular (which is the only carrier offering the iPhone here in the states) does not offer an unlimited voice plan in the US. Here are the options, in US dollars:
450 minutes/month: $40/month
900 minutes/month: $60/month
1350 minutes/month: $80/month
2000 minutes/month: $100/month
4000 minutes/month: $150/month
6000 minutes/month: $200/month
Now, add the required $34 - $44 unlimited data plan to any of the above voice plans, and you have your required monthly payment in USD.
So, as you can see, you are getting a MUCH better deal over in the UK than we are getting here.
Short answer - you Brits are being ripped off - and take that from a Canuck who KNOWS he's being ripped off by the phone companies in his country. :)
Besides, you can't do a comparison like that. That's not typically how market prices are set. BT doesn't go 'Hmmm... this phone costs $399 in the US - the Pound is roughly 2 to 1 to the US$ - so we should charge £199.' They look at what the market prices will bear and charge that.
What you guys need to do is complain more and demand more competition. :)
In all seriousness, I hope someone makes a "SMASH AN iPHONE INFRONT OF THE LINE" video and posts it up on YouTube.
Yeah, then they can have a smash my contract with AT&T right afterward! That would be AWESOME!
Mind not be wise to follow current data plans on other phones for the iPhone because they may run on different servers.
And iLOL at people for blaming AT&T for the data price.
Apple severely overcharges for everything....never stopped the "AppleHeads" from buying....so why should it now?
I know a lot of you are using old plans with old pricing that is technically no longer available, but that's not a real comparison. The question is this: if I were to sign up right now for a basic voice plan + unlimited data *as a new customer* for each carrier, how much would I pay? I looked at the 4 major carriers:
T-Mobile: 1000 minutes (non-rollolver) + Unlimited Data & email = $70
Sprint: 450 minutes (non-rollover) + Unlimited Data = $90
Verizon: 450 minutes (non-rollover) + unlimited data = $80
At&T: 450 minutes (rollover) + unlimited data = $80
So T-Mobile is a moderately better deal, although the rollover of At&T will balance out the minutes difference for most people. Yes, you are limited to EDGE with the iPhone, but people seem to neglect that 3G coverage is fairly rare in the US. There are plenty of people who simply CAN'T use 3G, whether the phone has it or not.
So please, somebody explain to me how At&t's plan is out of line with what is currently available. Is it expensive? Yes, but it's the same damn price as everybody else. This is the wonderful world of american wireless networks. The iPhone's data pricing looks to be right in line with the competition. What the hell are all of you bitching about then?
Not sure where you got these numbers but the Sprint numbers are wrong and too high.
450 min = $40
Unlimited data = $15 or $20
Unlimited text = $10
Even if you get the data plan with more 'Sprint TV' junk you are still only talking about $70/month plus tax.
"we can't all get into line on Friday without knowing what we're signing up for, right? We hope?"
Want a bet people wont?
Apple iPhone = $500, $40/mo minimum for phone + $45/mo data, 2-year contract, Yahoo e-mail, no instant messaging, no removable battery, slow keyboard.
Helio Ocean = $300, $65 for phone & unlimited data/texting, no contract if you signup through MySpace, Yahoo/Gmail/AOL/Hotmail e-mail and instant messengers, removable battery, qwerty keyboard.
I think I know which one I'll be buying.
I am pretty sure iPhone works with all of those email clients.
"iPhone uses a rich HTML email client that fetches your email in the background from most POP3 or IMAP mail services and displays photos and graphics right along with the text."
From Apple's site.
Um not for nothing but we don't KNOW that the battery is non replaceable. I mean, it's a pretty saf assumption, but still. Which is actually a good question. If you have a phone that locks you into a 2 year contract (another safe assumption) but the battery is only gonna last 18 months, what are you gonna do when it craps out? I'm not looking to be replacing my $600 phone in 2 years. I'm sure that some thrid parties will have kits, though, so you can do it yourself.
Yeah, it works with the email, but no IM, no EV-DO, no GPS, and no over the air song download.
How about a normal talk plan with text built in. And just use wireless whenever that is around?
Try getting one of the Sprint SERO deals they are unbeatable value.
i.e. 500 mins + unlimited data $30.00 p.m.
Wow, I'm waiting on my Mogul to show up from Sprint, and I am only having to pay $25 a month for an unlimited EV-DO data plan! Of course, it doesn't have an "i" in front of it, so I'm sure the plan I have won't "just work," and probably doesn't have the "flawless user experience" of the iPlan.
Where can somebody get $25 of unlimited data from sprint? This option is not available according to their website.
There is no evidence of anything other than $40 for unlimited data on Sprint's website.
