Dell's XPS m1330 and Inspiron laptops now on-line
After an initial appearance on Canada's site, Dell's new XPS m1330 and Inspiron laptops have broken free from the rumor mill. Available on-line now, the new 17-, 15-, and 14-inch Inspirons start at $769 while the XPS m1330 hottie will set you back at least $1,684 $1,299. Specs are in line with what we've already heard: LED-backlighting, slot-loading and Blu-ray optical, SSDs, big juicy 1,920 x 1,200 resolutions, GeForce Go 8600M GT graphics, 2x hard disk configurations and enough colors to make you doubt your manhood.
Update: Dell just updated the website (again) to reflect a starting price of $1,299 for the XPS m1330. That's more like it.
[Thanks, everybody who sent this in]

This is what I've been waiting for baby! An awesome looking laptop, with great specs (i.e. good video card) and a slick price! I've finally found my college notebook!
Have you though about the new Lenovo x60s. Its a 12.1" screen and weighs just 1.39Kilos. Its supposed to have a great keybaord but the optical drive is 0.5Kg extra.
I would welcome comment from anyone who has experience of this product.
I placed an order for a M1330 (2.2Ghz, 200GB 72K rpm, 8600M GT) four days ago.
The order is now in production, but I wonder how long it will take as there's a severe shortage of base material (glass, can you believe it?) concerning flatpanels fabrication worldwidth.
Funny thing on the dutch Dell store: there's no way to remove the 8600M GT from the build, and there's no 2.0Ghz CPU option right now (1.8Ghz 2MB cache -> 2.2Ghz 4MB cache -> 2.4Ghz 4MB cache). And yeah: upgrading from 1.8 to 2.2Ghz cost me 340,- euro more...ouch.
Concerning the graphic controller, it's strange people can't choose the Intel integrated graphics option. Not an option for me though.
Anyway, I can't wait! This is the first Dell notebook with style.
I used to have the Dell Latitude X1 which is a great little notebook, but the lack of power was killing me.
Am in Uganda, and it does not matter what others say, i have seen it and i like it. Anyone who can give me the name, telephone, and address of the company that sells the item in the United States along with the catalog number and listed price?
