Devon IT intros SafeBook thin client laptop

King of Prussia, Pennsylvania's own Devon IT looks to be doing its small part to make the town known for something more than the biggest mall on the East Coast, today introducing its latest thin client laptop for those ready to give hard drives the boot. From the looks of it, the new SafeBook retains many of the same specs as its predecessor, including a 12.1-inch display and VIA C7-M processor, with the notable addition of 3G AirCard support this time around, along with 802.11 a/b/g WiFi. Despite those additions, this model actually boasts a lower starting price than before, now coming in at $599, which the company says makes it the "most competitive on the market."

No one else thinks this thing is as cool as I do?
Oh well.
I think this server computing model might be on to something...

I guess it's good and all if you'll always be connected, but isn't the point of a laptop to ... sometimes not be connected, possibly, maybe?
"I'm going to take my work home, Jim".
You better have a nice hi-speed connection at home, and pray it doesn't go down.
Can't you just buy a cheap Dell and remove the hard drive, boot off the network?

I like it!
It's the right price, but will there be a monthly charge for their server, and do they have other comanies whose servers I can turn to when theirs go down or if they cease to exist?

This is a great solution for hospitals. All the mobility the docs and nurses need, none of the concern of laptops walking out the door (or at least not much).
I agree with 'youaretehn00b' above -- I'd rather have a high quality thin client than a low quality PC. It's all about the reliability of parts and function. Do you want a VW Jetta or a Porsche 924?

I thought it was a Dell Latitude.
