At this point there's
not a whole lot for us to say about the
m1330 that hasn't already -- except that we finally got a chance to
check this bad boy out, and no surprise, we liked what we saw. Pictures in the gallery below -- lock on sights and accept our apologies for the less than desirable lighting on this thing.

So is this notebook part of the Inspiron series or the XPS m1330?
RJ @ Jun 28th 2007 8:53AM
the computer sure is nice, but i'm probably going with the 14" inspiron instead of the xps. i saw them in the background of the first photo. did you snap any of them that you can post?
bobvilla @ Jun 28th 2007 8:52AM
is that a faux metal finish, or a real one?
Tyk @ Jun 28th 2007 9:06AM
Meh, it will be a Santa Rosa VIAO SZ for me.. its even cheaper when spec'd out the same way.
TheChaz @ Jun 28th 2007 12:10PM
The Vaio SZ isn't available with 802.11 N, and it's cellular data option is EDGE, not HSDPA. Tack on the LED-lit screen and the Sony had better be cheaper, because it sure isn't the better machine. (At least on features.)
Jake @ Jun 28th 2007 9:14AM
Is that with the standard LCD screen, or is that the LED backlit? It looks a little thick to be LED.
TheChaz @ Jun 28th 2007 12:17PM
It's the LED display. According to the Dell website, they have other stuff integrated into the display casing (WiFi & WWAN antennas, webcam), so it can't be super-thin.
trev @ Jun 28th 2007 9:29AM
now if only they decided to take this design and adapt it to a convertible tablet format :)
XSportSeeker @ Jun 28th 2007 3:05PM
Can't say about design... but spec-wise, Gateway recently release an interesting 13.3 convertible tablet with discreet graphics and all.
I'm probably buying M1330 soon... matches perfectly what I want in a laptop. But the Gateway tablet made me wonder. It would be sweet to have the Wacom pen add-on
tyler @ Jun 28th 2007 9:34AM
Wow Engadget.. the second link in the article points to: "Dell XPS m1330" Check the Dell site or one of the past 5 articles you've put up about this laptop.
DERP!
sfokevin @ Jun 28th 2007 9:47AM
Vaio knockoff...
Matt @ Jun 28th 2007 9:53AM
So just cause someone does something first it makes everything after it a knockoff? If so then think there would be only one of everything. Get a life dude.
Ed @ Jun 28th 2007 11:07AM
Which is a good thing...I refuse to purchase any Sony products because of their complete disregard to their customers. Has everyone forgotten about the Root Kit fiasco already? And their level of arrogance in why they committed that act of internet treason? I had to clean three different computers of the Sony rootkit...and this was before anyone knew it was a rootkit that was causing the problems. All told, it probably took me 4 hours per machine! I can't imagine the stress people went through if they had to pay for this service...
Boycot Sony...forever...there are alternatives!

I have a wonderful life... I have 3 Dells, 2 Vaios and an ugly but dear Thinkpad... I prefer a life of diversity and innovation...
Sam @ Jun 28th 2007 11:55AM
Sony = innovation (sometimes) BUT Dell?! No innovation there. Sorry.
John @ Jun 28th 2007 10:30AM
glossy screen? yuck.
Khris @ Jun 28th 2007 11:10AM
This is exactly the reason I've lost completely interest. The glossy screen is horrible.
Kinger @ Jun 28th 2007 11:36AM
non-glossy screen? yuck!
kevin @ Jun 28th 2007 12:15PM
Glossy screens are so hard on your eyes. Why do people fall for purchasing these things.
Khris @ Jun 28th 2007 2:28PM
Because they believe the hype that a glossy screen looks better. Thank god for mindless sheep otherwise companies around the world would have no customers!
Take your glossy screen outside and see how well it works. I'll laugh at you while I use my Latitude D630 without problems!
k0a10 @ Jun 28th 2007 10:35AM
Audio jacks on the front.. bad design (if you're using it as a laptop). Wonder what else they didn't think about.
KnightRider @ Jun 28th 2007 11:38AM
Give me a $750 off $1500 coupon, and I'd take 2...
wetworker @ Jun 28th 2007 11:40AM
Need more contrast in the keyboard area, should have darker keys, too much metal of the same colour. The notebooks look sweet still, I love the slot loaded drive, why don’t pc makes use them more often.
Who knows when I’m ready to replace my Acer Ferrari 4000 I might get one….needs a 5 in 2 SD card reader.
chareman14 @ Jun 28th 2007 11:47AM
Its has a LED back lit display!! That cool enough for me
Tonicboy @ Jun 28th 2007 12:47PM
What's up with the crappy image quality? Lighting aside, there is terrible moire on teh edges. Looks like you gusy resized these with MS Paint or something. Actually, even MS Paint would've done a much better job.
Khris @ Jun 28th 2007 2:33PM
Some people just need something to complain about. Pitty you couldn't find anything better than this. LOL Pathetic!
Tonicboy @ Jun 28th 2007 4:58PM
You're absolutely right, some people just need something to complain about. Pitty you couldn't find anything better than this. LOL Pathetic!
stuart @ Jun 28th 2007 2:41PM
Maybe its just me, but the hinge looks ghastly from the side especially when closed (which they don't show here).
But what am I complaining about, at least this article isn't about the iPhone. /sarcasm
pff1029 @ Jun 28th 2007 3:27PM
That's not the hinge, buddy--It's probably their frickin' huge nine-cell battery for this thing.
I haven't seen a review or video of the laptop w/o it. If Dell wanted to show off how thin and light it is, they could've hooked it up to the mains.
Ariel @ Jun 28th 2007 5:33PM
I await my recently ordered Tuxedo Black version. Cheers.
Tony@dell @ Jun 28th 2007 7:34PM
