Skinkers LiveStation: P2P live TV broadcasting service demoed
In the live television streaming / placeshifting realm, Sling Media is likely the first name to come to mind, but now a new competitor is gearing up to enter the market sans the use of a box. Based on the Microsoft Silverlight platform, London-based Skinkers is in the early stages of readying a new product dubbed LiveStation, which looks to provide users with live television access on their internet-connected machine via a basic P2P setup. During an interview with Matteo Berlucchi from Skinkers, he did mention that the program would remain in beta for "the next few months" as kinks were gradually worked out, but also noted that it would be Mac and PC compatible when launch day comes. Go on, hit the read link to hear it from the developers mouth.[Via TechCrunch]

Um, This is a total rip off of Joost. It works via P2P, and is already Mac and PC compatible.
Competition is rarely a bad thing.
Joost does not stream Live TV. However, a service called Zattoo is already in private beta (and is absolutely fantastic) doing the P2P Live TV thing.

I managed to get in on the Beta. Here's my review!

Here in France, an internet+tv+phone provider called 'Free' just started a new service called TV-PERSO, in which you can watch channels made by other Free subscribers. Making your own channel is dead easy, simply attach a camera to the back of the box and hit 'broadcast' on a special channel. From that moment on you create a TV channel that other people with a Freebox can watch. There are all kinds of creative people starting their own kind of TV shows now. Its all pretty experimental, but somehow this looks like an important step.

@James Whited:
how can it be a rip off if it's LIVE TV? I love Joost and I use joost. The one thing i wish joost can do is offer live TV.
