Lenovo's T61p packs UWB and roll cage for the ham-fisted road warrior
Lenovo is prepped to loose their ThinkPad T61p laptop on July 17th with a little surprise: UWB. Hells yes, we're talking 'bout that high-speed, short-throw ultra-wideband data transfer perfect for untethered port replication a la the Portege R400. The 15.4-inch lappie comes slathered in the Santa Rosa chipset and Nvidia Quadro FX 570M graphics all protected by an internal roll cage meant to steady even the drunkest of execs. Prices start at $1,814.

ok so the contents of this laptop are safe and sound, but what happens if this collides with a UMPC? or a Smart Phone? do you know how much damage that steel frame can cause? and don't get me started on the milage...

1/3rd of a screen and only 27 keys? How in the hell is anybody expected to do any work on THAT?

You counted? good work

For f*ck's sake, it's LOSE not LOOSE. Why are basic grammar skills flying out the window these days?
foodle @ Jul 10th 2007 11:00AM
Uh, no. "Loose" is being used here as a verb, as in to "let loose."
Grammar > you.
G-Unic @ Jul 10th 2007 12:06PM
Granted, loose is the proper spelling in this context but it would be used like this:
"Lenovo is prepped to LET loose their ThinkPad...."
"Lenovo is prepped to TURN loose their ThinkPad...."
F*cktard.

I've got a dictionary, and I'm not afraid to use it!

I really wish they (Lenovo) would get the size down to the T43 dimensions. I really hate the new the laptops cause they are so large. And before anyone says anything, The X series machines nice but they are too small.

There are a lot of people who want Lenovo to go back to 4:3 screens on the T-series, but it seems that the LCD manufacturers only want to make widescreens (more panel per glass sheet or something).
Michael Geary @ Jul 10th 2007 2:00PM
Matt Kohut of Lenovo has a blog post about the state of LCD panels with a very interesting comment thread here:
