Belkin announces 4-port Wireless USB Hub
Those not satisfied by Belkin's latest attempt at clutter-reducing USB hubs may want to consider stepping up to the company's new 4-port Wireless USB Hub, which'll let you ditch the cables all together and spread your peripherals to places they've never been before. According to Belkin, the hub will give you about a 30 foot range and transfer speeds up to 480Mbps, with full compatibility promised for any "Certified Wireless USB" devices. Nothing too remarkable there, but the price is certainly a bit more welcoming than some other hubs we've seen, coming in at an even $200, which includes the hub and a wireless USB adapter. Look for it to roll out late next month.

I'd love to have one of these but I won't pay $200 for it. I would probably pay $75 for it because of the "cool" factor even though I think it should be selling for around $50.

Yes this was "Announced" months ago with pics and all...
Just to be a bit anal - It is not totally wireless in that it has to be plugged into a power supply...

I have a better idea, how about make a real wireless usb hub.
You plug the wireless usb "access point" into a usb slot, ala a bluetooth adapter, and then you plug the other end of the wireless duo into your printer or whatever. Thus getting rid of usb cables.. forever!!

I was wondering that too. AP plugs into your computer (or is built right in), and then a dongle plugs into each device.
Then I realized that the USB ports on most devices probably aren't powered, so the dongle would need a power source. That would be messy.
There are a number of ways to implement this, and they all have their pros and cons.

I bought one of these from newegg a month and a half ago. Works ok. Even synced an ipod...
Am I missing something?

So, I know Wireless USB is cool and all, but for 200 I could easily purchase enough wifi equipment with USB capabilities to cover quite a bit of footage. I guess by next year the price should fall down to the level where this technology can become feasible.

How will it work with devices that take there power over the usb hub??
Will it provide power enough for instance Ipod and Pocket-Pc who both recharge over usb?
