Nyko Wii Party Station -- it's official, the fun has begun
Yeah, you thought you were living the high life with that pair of rechargeable batteries and tennis racket attachments you ponied up for -- too bad you weren't even halfway to awesome. Nyko's new "Wii Party Station" is the only way to live, with room to charge four Wiimotes, hold and chill four adult beverages and room to house the all important chip and dip bowl and various Wiicessories. Best of all is the completely superfluous score board to make your smack talk so much more effective, and the hand cooling fan really seals the deal. For $25, if you don't have one of these 12 seconds after they hit store shelves, we can't be friends anymore.

The article says it only has room to hold 4 wiimotes, it does not actually charge them. And for $25, that would be an amazing deal if it did charge them, but sadly it does not.

I'm sorry, did you miss the "room to CHARGE 4 Wiimotes"?
This thing looks awesome haha.
PDubNYC @ Jul 12th 2007 1:48PM
I'm sorry, did you not RTF?
"The battery powered base station rocks a wide variety of features including mundane things like slots for 4 Wiimotes and a storage drawer for nunchucks and accessories. "
Nothing about charging, which is a shame. If it could somehow be the ref for a Wii drinking game, then that would rock

Engadget is wrong, it holds the Wiimotes it does NOT charge them. Sloppy reporting.
PDubNYC @ Jul 12th 2007 1:49PM
sweet posting system double posted my comment. sorry
RJ @ Jul 12th 2007 2:21PM

rock99rock @ Jul 12th 2007 3:01PM
I wanna dip my balls in it.
BoZs13 @ Jul 12th 2007 1:31PM
HELL YA! Overkill FTW!
Nando @ Jul 12th 2007 1:37PM
I'd buy it if it recharged the 4 Wiimotes.
anonymous @ Jul 12th 2007 2:34PM
I'm gonna buy 1000 of em, apply for patent and mod them to charge the remotes . I'll sell em for a C note.... Now, where to get the 1000 wall warts....
ShoKill @ Jul 12th 2007 1:41PM
Yeah, it doesn't seem like it charges them. Nice catch. I wish it would, I would totally buy one. Even without charging I'm still tempted too. It's such a great idea!

Looks like the Waterpik I have in my bathroom.

Little + and - buttons? Looks like you keep score manually. Guess we can't be friends anymore.
Mike Roselli @ Jul 12th 2007 1:58PM
id buy it only if it charged the remotes
Joshua @ Jul 12th 2007 1:59PM
I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit...

Wiimotes use standard AA batteries with a full battery cover.
If this were to be rechargeable, they would have to supply 4 proprietary battery packs (AAs soldered together with connection to charging unit) with the unit.
SiLo @ Jul 12th 2007 3:14PM
The Nyko Charger station for the Wiimotes is not too bad. I have one and it works pretty damn well. The only complaint I really have for it is that sometimes if it doesn't sit against the docking station JUST right, it won't charge. Luckily, there are LED indicators for this (BLUE = charging, GREEN = fully charged).
It uses a battery pack as well as replacement back cover. The back cover features a slight cut out for the battery contacts for charging as well as a grey interlaced rubber grip.
Their battery life is not too bad from my experiences and they charge rather quickly. The only problem is that it uses US plugs (not that I'm from out of the US) and only outlet plugs.. no USB. :(

Reposted. Sorry, I suck.
Sean @ Jul 12th 2007 2:44PM
I don't want the dip that close to my wiimotes. The last thing I need is some nacho cheese gumming up my A button.
The fan is a good idea for a more realistic bowling alley simulation though.
Jeffr @ Jul 12th 2007 4:01PM
I thought it was for a Wii drinking game, cup vibrates and you have to drink. Wii Quarters.
fistpittingnork @ Jul 12th 2007 4:16PM
I'm sorry, how exactly does this "chill" drinks? They're plastic cups that sit in a plastic groove.
Now if these cups doubled as a beer coozy then I'd buy some Busch, invite over Brandine, Clayton, and Clementine over for a flannel fest Wii bowling session.
Arthur Nonamiss @ Jul 12th 2007 7:03PM
The cups are freezable. I bet they have some sort of liquid in them that is good at storing thermal energy (or lack thereof)
Taylor @ Jul 15th 2007 10:27AM
They work in the same way a chill bag/eski works: they insulate your drink. I also believe they have some kind of gel in them like those malleable ice packs, so you can freeze the cups, put your already cold drinks in there, and keep them nice and cool.
shakman @ Jul 12th 2007 4:47PM
No big deal about it charging Wiimotes or not. I don't even have a Wii and I'm thinking about buying one of these sweet-ass things. I can use the scoreboard for when I lay down the smack to the boys in Mario Kart 64.
JP @ Jul 12th 2007 4:48PM
Ok, this is stupid. A plastic stand that holds controllers and a moderate amount of bean dip, and Engadget swoons.
...yes Engadget, and I cannot wait for the Wii release of Interlocking Foam Mats With Concave Zones For Breakfast Cereal. That'll make Paper Mario the sh**.
shakman @ Jul 12th 2007 4:50PM
excellent concept... I'll take one!
Arthur Nonamiss @ Jul 12th 2007 7:04PM
Oops
Jypson @ Jul 12th 2007 7:11PM
If only I had friends to Wii with :?(
Cuimhne @ Jul 12th 2007 7:48PM
Hilarious AND useless...I must have one!
