Fujitsu's LifeBook N6460 launches in US
It was but a few weeks ago that we caught Fujitsu's LifeBook N6460 showing off in Singapore, and now it looks like the beastly machine has made its way stateside for all of us Americans to enjoy. This 17-incher touts an XGA+ panel, Intel's 2GHz Core 2 Duo T7300 CPU, ATI's Mobility Radeon HD 2600 graphics set, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, up to 400GB of hard drive space, an optional Blu-ray drive, integrated fingerprint scanner, a remote control, 56k modem, gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, and a plethora of ports including five USB 2.0 connectors, FireWire, a multicard reader, and an ExpressCard opening to boot. Granted, you can certainly opt to customize the aforementioned specifications to fit your budget, but pre-established configurations range from $1,499 to $2,599 and look to be shipping right away.

Would a Blu-Ray drive really be feasible on a laptop? I imagine the speeds must....not be all that

What a hunk of junk. Get a MacBook Pro!!
Argot @ Jul 30th 2007 5:44AM
So instead of this hunk of junk you would get an even bigger hunk of junk from crApple.
DR PEPPER @ Jul 30th 2007 6:30AM
crApple.... LOL
I suggest you educate your moron brain about how computers are made and while your at it get some taste. There isn't anything that that comes close to the MacBook Pro. Just look at this piece of shit above. Before you even start on how well it runs just look how ugly it is. It looks like a complete BRICK. A bit like your boyfriend.
Then you have to run Windows$ on it. Have fun doing that. Jesus it rather slit my wrists.
Overall a big pile of crappy engineering and design rolled into one expensive price.
So before your call a Apple "crApple" I think you should actually fucking try one. You might actually find out why people defend them against fuckwits like yourself.
Argot @ Jul 30th 2007 7:15AM
I have tried crApple computers you fucking idiot. They suck.
DR PEPPER @ Jul 30th 2007 7:27AM
OS 9 on your cousins black PowerBook doesn't count.
What a retard. LOL
I bet this was your first words after using a Mac:
"Oh ma GaaawwDD how do you use it!? It has no Start menu!! Gawwwd you suckkk!! Gawwd damnnn Mac doing things differently. Parr fetch me tha gun!!"

1. You're advertising for Apple
2. There is such a thing as a 'wide' PC market.
If you don't like this laptop, get something else. I got a Sony Vaio, and in terms of hardware and specs, it's about equal to a MBP. And I happen to think the Vaio design is a bit more sexy than the MBP.
But that's my thought.

there is a reason why you received all low ranks, but i guess you are not as 'intelligent' as you think you are.
you talk about 'taste'? since when does style become prime over functionality, EVER. i mean no i wouldn't want to walk around with an ugly laptop, that said, if it was ugly but had a 40ghz proc, 2tb of ram, a trillion gig solid state drive, and a battery long enough to go overseas stay a week and come back with and still not charge for 2 months.....i'm not taking your little MBP which by the way if you haven't noticed yet IS REALLLLLLY OVERPRICED.
oh and theres PLENTY that comes 'close' to mac book pros, actually, surpassing it bud hate to ruin your afternoon :|
GG.

i agree with you zach, Look at the IBM ThinkPad... they haven't changed the look in what seems like 20 years however the hardware is the same as the MBP ... Intel and if you really want a Unix based OS Ubuntu is free and you can get your money back for your license of windows on the system you buy if you prove to Microsoft you canceled the agreement and installed another OS. just try it.

It is heavier than an Apple 17"by over 3 lbs, but this may add in passive cooling. it is over $1200 cheaper than the Apple 17", with a slower processor and lower res screen, but that's a lot of money. Fujitsu does not ship the laptop with the bracket for the extra hard drive, if you don't order it with two of Fujitsu's slow and expensive drives, and there is no information on Fujitsu's website on how to order the bracket. Dell Vostro has full service manual online, and unlike Fujitsu, does not need a bracket for hard drives, and is available with a 1920x1200 screen, whereas, Fujitsu maxes at 1440x900. Like the Apple, the Dell is lighter than the Fujitsu, which may be a negative, concerning passive cooling.

I just don't understand why the trackpad is so far to the left. I'm right handed and couldn't imagine that being too comfortable. I understand it's aligned with the spacebar, but does it really have to be?
omnicloud @ Jul 30th 2007 9:09PM
Man all these notebook releases... with awesome features... I wish I could afford them.
Malig @ Aug 12th 2007 1:56AM
I called fujitsu up and they told me all you had to do was call tech support and ask them for the bracket for the 2nd harddrive which costs like $2 and they'll have it shipped to you.
