No Tyk, it is absolutely impossible to downgrade, ergonomically, starting at the last generation keyboard. It is either just as bad or better. "Worse" would mean that it might randomly burst into flames, or eat your fingers when the moon is full. As I assume you feel a need for a real keyboard instead of some notebook variant, I'd say go get yourself a Tactile Pro (if you're in QWERTY-land). If not, pick up an Extended II for cheap and live happily ever after.

The aesthetics and ergonomics (esp. the KB) are a DOWNGRADE from the previous generation.. dont see how you can argue about that.

I agree. At least the previous generation was pleasing to see. This is downright ugly. Keyboard looks awful for touch typist too.
