What a weird motherboard, very strange :s I imagine this is the problem that people with XPS' had, that they couldn't get a replacement motherboard? Does it even offer any advantages? Looks like a big area of wasted space to me.
There's nothing wrong with the hardware, the motherboard upgrade is to fulfill a promise of an upgrade path for XPS 700 users, and the 710 users get to take advantage relatively cheaply if they choose to.
I just googled it. Basically so people can get Quad and other benefits. And those that bought the 700 paid extra with the agreement that when it was ready they would get a free upgrade.
