FUZE unveils whole-home media system
If you thought HTIBs were convenient, the FUZE Media System should have you grinning from ear to ear. Similar to the uber-pricey ConnectedLife.Home in a box, this all-in-one solution brings together a FuzeBox HTPC with "multiple CableCARD tuners," FuzeMini HD Media Clients, the Fuze Whole-Home remote, a four-inch wall-mountable touchscreen interface, and a number of on-wall control switches to deliver complete multimedia integration throughout your domicile. According to FUZE, you'll find "all the necessary components for media storage and distribution: a primary media server, video clients, audio clients, and multiple interface options." Interestingly, it even notes that "DRM-friendly whole-home HD video" won't be a problem with this here equipment, and while the firm has yet to talk dollars and dates, we'll hopefully be getting a much closer look at what's involved when it sets up shop at CEDIA.

This'll be interesting. There is no one-stop for this at the moment and I doubt they'll incorporate everything thats needed. Sure, it'll do a job - but there's tons of stuff that'll "do a job" providing you have a specific technologies, already.
If they want to accomodate everyone, there are a lot of standards and technologies to add to the bundle. If they assemble all of these things and then don't rape us in the pricing, they might have a winner.

There are pricing details and tons more info on the product at cedianews.com. The product is actually a Media Center PC, although Fuze goes out of the way to say "it is not a Media Center." Key thing about it is that it is built from the ground up to distribute music throughout the house -- something that really is novel. http://www.cepro.com/article/fuze_may_have_first_media_center_built_specifically_for_whole_house_audio/

Boy, what passes for novel these days.

Wow. I think I'll stick with my sonos. That way I don't have to hack holes in my walls to put in panels.

I think I'll just stick with my Pioneer Elite PDP which can already do all of this over wired or wireless with any PC or Mac in my house.

Can't wait for this one to come out. Meanwhile, I'm loving less uber-pricey home entertainment systems like this one :)
