Apple's lawyers called, the iPod nano "phatty" is apparently the real deal

That really sketchy looking photo of the iPod nano "phatty" from yesterday? Yeah, you can officially file that under deceptively sketchy looking -- Apple's legal team called demanding we take the shot down, claiming ownership of the photo, and that it was "stolen" from the company. Ooook. Granted, Apple doesn't send takedowns to all confirmed-true leaks -- take the new aluminum Mac keyboard, for example. Apple never gave us a hard time when we broke that story. Still, Apple's legal team wouldn't be wasting its or our time if they didn't feel there was something to lose by inaction, so until further notice we're considering this the real deal. Just in case you missed it the first time, we pulled together a quick mockup of the newer, fatter nano. See? You really weren't missing anything. Expect 'em out in the next couple of months, says we.

I still think its fake because it is so ugly. My brother has an 8gb nano and it meets all his needs. I have an 80gb video and it meets my needs. the only thing that needs improvement in the iPod line is a bigger display on the video maybe touch screen. but my brother says leave the nano alone.

Although I would LOVE to see Apple flounder in the fashion department, I don't believe that Apple is THAT stupid. Maybe the lawyers called because, although this isn't the real photo, it's spreading negativity about their newest product which could adversely affect sales

Well, count me in the ulgy bandwagon. It looks like Apple threw all design aesthetics out the window for this one. Not like Apple at all, and rather disappointing. I certainly hope this isn't the final design.

okay. if i were apple (keep dreaming, i know) here would be the new ipods- nano update- refreshed ui, 2.0 screen, 1 new color, 4,8,12gb capacities with 150,200,240 price points (no more 2gb!) It would not be those "leaked" pics because the point of the nano is to be really small and thin and making it as wide as a video isn't a good move however those pics would make a good next video ipod, because the ipod touch is going to be pricey so by making those the new videos - no harm no foul. video- it would be those leaked nano pics, 16 or/and 30gb flash memory so its really thin 250 and 350 price points. iPod Touch/Ultimate (lol) 3.5 touch screen ,bluetooth, 40 gb, 400. another 4 inch screen model with 120 and 180gb 450 and 500. all of them would be os based and have improved features. let me know what you think

oh and to make the ipod touch differ from the iphone it would be glossy around the screen (a la new imac) and have 2 invisible touch sensitive back and home buttons and the back side would be aluminum. and would be black/silver like the iphone but would be thicker and a diffrent style.

They would be silly to kill off the 2G nano with this though, It makes more sense as a new product line (iPod Micro?). I own a 2G nano because of it's size, a shuffle doesn't suit my needs because it has no screen, nor does a full sized iPod because I don't need video playback and it's too big.

Don't think that hideous mutant is a legitimate product. Apple is most likely trying to suppress an image that conflicts with it's market releases.

This is probably an internally distributed design that was rejected.
