Palm teaser hints at early Centro launch for Europe
We can't be certain what Palm's playing at with this teaser brochure on its website: either it's talking about the launch of a European marketing campaign for the Centro on September 12th, or Palm's managed to pull a fast one and is ready to launch the Centro (or another unseen phone) in the next two weeks. We're guessing the former, but at least this promotion tells us something about this phone, Centro or not: the first people to get their hands on one will be European. Check out the website, and if you live in The Netherlands, the UK, Germany, or Italy, enter your details to potentially win not one, but five Palm smartphones.

Interesting that this teaser is for Europe (where Symbian rules) though frankly, I can't see buying another Palm smartphone (or 'mobile companion') anytime soon - or at least until Palm gets their act together and builds something reliable that people actually want and that *at least* matches capabilities to devices already out there.
No sign of the Centro on the Palm Canada website yet, but I do note that the Foleo's premiere location on the front page has been yanked (in favour of the Treo 755p - merde) while the Foleo has been buried well under the Products page....
nothing to do with the topic, not trying to be rude.
just commented on engadgetmobile.com: why don't they share comments when they share a post? sometimes your loose great comments on either site, when reading the other one
Is there a way I can change my password? I never remember those weird numbers.
$0.02
PS: other site comment> let's just hope it's GSM... or at least I hope. I haven't owned a palm device since... never. In fact, I owned a Handspring Visor Edge, but I really have great respect for their products (in my mind, handspring is palm when treo talking). They revolutionized the market years ago, but their lack of OS improvement has made them take incorrect decisions (foleo?). The market owes them quite a lot, so let's hope this can be a fresh start for them... or maybe the start of something bigger. G Luck Palm.
LOL I LIKE SO AGREE, HOW DARE THEY COPY APPLE'S GREAT INVENTION OF THE MOBILE PHONE?
And how is that an iPhone copy? o_0?
To both of you:
F A I L
wow... this is an iphone wanabee? i guess the qwerty keyboard is what makes it a copy of the iphone right? your an idiot dfsdfsfsf this is not an iphone wannabe
If you can't afford to own an Iphone then STFU. iPhone is a revolutionary new mobile phone that allows you to make a call by simply tapping a name or number in your address book, a favorites list, or a call log. It also automatically syncs all your contacts from a PC, Mac, or Internet service. And it lets you select and listen to voicemail messages in whatever order you want — just like email.Screen size 3.5 inches

So guess what Palm ain't Iphone so therefore it for poor people in third world country.
PWN!!!!
ZOMG, DFSDFSFSF, BEFORE TEH IFONE, THAR WUZ NO TREO OR O2 OR HTC OR NOKIA COMMUNICATOR OR IPAQ OR ANYSHIN ELSH ON TEH MARKET THAT KAN TAP A NAME ON TEH ADDRESS BOOK OR CALL LOG TO MAKE A CALL! EVERYONE COPIED TEH IFONE!!
Sorry, can't stand overzealous fanboys who think they know what they're talking about.
yelohbird, you fail man. Go back to your basement. I'm not a fanboy of any corporation. I buy the best product and Apple always make innovative product and they care about their customer. But you wouldn't know about that ;) because you are too poor to afford an Iphone.
dfsdfsfsf
lmao i can afford a iphone but why waste my money on a non revolutionary phone when i can have a good phone. i have the money right now to buy a 8925 and i will buy it. it cost 800 dollars so stfu you poor bum. its not my fault you cant own a 800 dollar phone... and oh yeah your iphone is so great but it doesn't even have 3g... lol you fail you fanboy.
What about all those Iphones where the screen doesn't respond to touch some places. My roommate is on his second one in less than a month where the top half of the screen just didn't respond. You could only use the 7, 8, and 9 numbers on the phone keypad.
I think there will be a lot more of these failures in the future. This is the reason to have a qwerty keyboard physically on there somewhere.
I will admit the iphone is one sexy beast, but until I can judge the second gen one I will withhold my vote on it being the last phone anyone needs to purchase.
One of the countries is: "The Nertherlands"
You're doing a great job, Palmy.
there needs to be an age requirment on this site, no, the internet. I'm really getting tired of these < 15 year old little snots wandering around not even making sense.
ya, palm is a ripoff of the iphone... they're not similar at all, and if not for palm, there wouldn't BE an iphone.
the people that read this site aren't impressed by what you can buy with your allowance, we have *jobs, we can buy things too, more things.
stay in school and show off pokemon cards on your phone.
@dfsdfsfsf. This statement "I buy the best product and Apple always make innovative product and they care about their customer." means your a fanboy. Apple does not *always* make an innovative products and they care more about money then their customer otherwise they wouldn't make you send in your iPhone to get a simple battery change.
Back to this topic though... Palm phone. Wouldn't buy one now but if they made some improvements maybe a built in GPS.
Apple'ites doth protest too much, methinks.
Aside from the unbearable smugness of The Stevo, it was this rabid enthusiasm from users who deny issues with Apple products (even those that Apple themselves acknowledge), who generally abuse (loudly) those who have their doubts and who see a conspiracy behind everyone else's product (like the Centro) that finally drove me away from Apple and to other companies.
Apple'ites, you're doing the Company no favours.
The article was not about the iPhone (or even Apple) or world domination by Palm, so please can we stick close ('ish) to topic, hmmm?
Not only does PALM spell European country names strange, the source of their web page for this shows that they removed Spain from the list...or maybe are prepared to add it except for some unmentioned snafu.
The spelling has been corrected and Spain has been added now.
I will admit that I have owned at least six Apple computers in the last year. Honestly, I love OSX therfore the reason I use them. I would love to own a iPhone, but for reasons such as it being GSM, no exchange support and above all yes it is pricey, its not even a consideration. I still owned the original Treo (Treo 600) until last week when I cracked the screen. It had some issues including the fact that they ended support for it quite a while ago, but I must admit it was quite a work-horse. If the reports of the Centro being compared as a CDMA equivalent of the Treo 680 and hits its under $100 price range it is a sure buy.
