Look like a setup to me. I mean if it was me or many other thousand of people see their laptop burning like that or starting to catches fire, we will definitly go into panic mode and throw it in a bathtub or something to put it out. But this guy had it all setup. Camera ready and fire extinguisher(i mean how many people do own a fire extinguisher) all ready to setup this firework.
It's one of those "Hey, Look at me".
It's in a cubicle, I doubt someone set this up at their workplace, they could/would get charged with arson.
You're probably right. Didn't click on the link to see the rest of the pics. But still, idiots just standing around and think fire burning on their desktop is funny. I guessed they are waiting for that thing to explode in their face and cause a huge fire to break out that they won't be able to put out with a extinquisher. If that place had installed sprinklers, that laptop won't be the only thing that'll be destroyed.

Did anyone else notice the pumpkin? on the left side got frosted :) its a little snow pumpkin.
That pumpkin is a pomegranite.
I've never seen a pomegranite.. I have had pom juice though.. thats good stuff.

Not to sound stupid, but in this situation I would grab a fire extinguisher before the camera...

So is that now the official procedure? If your Dell bursts into flames, don't run for the extinguisher, run for your camera and let it burn.

my hp laptop warm too much and it always turn off before burning.
i am a little tired of it and burn it would be a great solution to get a new one.

You are walking down the hallway when you see one of your coworkers laptops burning with the heat of a thousand suns. Do you:
a) Run screaming like a little girl down the hallway yelling 'FIRE! FIRE!'
b) Bash open the nearest fire extinguisher container with your elbow and calmly hose down the desk with fire suppressant
c) Take a picture with your iPhone, moblog it to Flickr and then send a link to Engadget, while snickering about sony laptop batteries

Another reason not to buy any Sony related products- I stoppped buying anything remotely related to Sony years ago due to their bad quality.
Maybe it's a premonition.

WOW thats taking the overburn option on the cd writer to seriously.
How come its possible that your laptop catches fire and you don't put any effort to curb it at the mere start. The pic seems all made-up!
This is actually from someone in the building where I work. It's in Beijing and supposedly, the battery was already a recall swap out unit from Dell that burst into flames.
Dell's initial investigation shows that the battery shipped with this system is one that is on our recall list. We strongly encourage customers who may have batteries on that list to check our Web site at www.dellbatteryprogram.com. Customer safety is always our top priority. We want to recover all affected batteries on the recall list and to emphasize wherever possible that batteries recalled by Dell and other PC makers need to be returned.
Maybe that laptop is actually one of the best out there with super real graphics and he was playing a game such as Diablo or even something as simple as battleship and for example someone came after him with a flame thrower and he wasn't good enough to dodge it and those graphics are the cause of what you see!
