Moxi's CEDIA booth tour
Yep, even the Moxi HD DMR was all set up at CEDIA, and while we've no idea if it will truly "change the way you look at TV," you can certainly give its booth a once over to see what's in store. Come along, the gallery is waiting.

I think I am among the majority of people who have experience with MOXI when I say that the only thing that makes my MOXI box from Charter tolerable is the price when compared to Tivo Series 3. I don't know why it's been an insurmountable task for the competition to emulate the basic functionality of Tivo from 8 years ago, but it has. Why? Why oh frickin' why? Maybe because the customer is generally a cable company that has a de facto local monopoly.

My charter installer (was fixing a line problem a couple weeks ago) said that the Moxi software on charter equipment is now owned and upgraded by charter.

I've used Tivo, Moxi, and SA DVR boxes at various times. My favorite was the Moxi (my gripe mostly being with Charter for delaying indefinitely the rollout of their upgraded software--never did see the newish time shifting program guide), followed closely by Tivo with SA not even in the same sport, much less league. I'm waiting to see how this prices out. With the Multi-room capabilities, if it is within 100 to 200 dollars of the new Tivo HD's, I'm jumping. Especially if they have a better "subscription" model. Right now I'm stuck with an SA box from my provider (they are still "working on" compliance with the integration ban) and I'm in DVR hell.
Note, I've also had a Dish DVR in the distant past. It was okay interface-wise but it used modulation and an RF remote to make multi-room viewing possible. This was WAY ahead of its time and I've been missing this functionality ever since finding out that summertime leaves do in fact block satellite signals. Why hasn't someone integrated this concept into the CableCo world?
