RIM experiencing another BlackBerry outage?
Ruh roh, did RIM have another widespread BlackBerry outage? Reports are popping up all across the internets that since as early as this morning BlackBerry users were unable to get their email on T-Mobile or AT&T, and possibly other carriers as well. From the sound of things though, Jim Basille's prayers to the fair and equitable Gods of Push Email were answered, as RIM issued the following statement:"Some customers using BlackBerry Internet Service experienced a delay this afternoon in sending or receiving email. The issue has since been resolved and no messages were lost. RIM continues to investigate the matter. Service for BlackBerry Enterprise Server customers was not impacted. RIM apologizes to customers for any inconvenience."
Oh great, just put many a young, connected couples' relationships in harm's way -- please RIM, won't you think of the yet-unconcieved children?
P.S. -If you're (still) having problems, sound off in comments! Let us know where you're at, who your carrier is, etc.

Sprint 8830 no email at all
I was one of those effected by this, i resent my service books around 5pm EST and my mail started rolling in
My company uses BBs from a few service providers, and we didn't have many (if any) mass outages from out 2000+ phones.
maybe it happened earlier in the day, i'm on at&t in cali and my mail is rolling in fine at the moment.
scratch that. as soon as i sent my comment, i got an email that didn't come to my phone. nuts
i had problems this afternoon as well mail started rolling right after i resent my service books.
West coast, T-Mobile, Blackberry 8100, no email for the past 18 hours
Telus (Canada) - it's been on & off all day long ... I just got duplicates (all 51 of them)
Verizon 8830. I didn't have email from about 11am to 1pm today, and when I realized I wasn't getting any, I used the BB browser to download my service books. Two seconds after I did that, my mailbox filled up.
Yep, my Verizon BB email has been down all afternoon -- just starting to come back up now.
YEP. I'm STILL out.
Texas, no e-mail since about 0900 and counting
Cingular (AT&T) in KY - all appears fine right now: 11:33 am EDT
Several 'spurts' of queued messages yesterday starting about 9a.
Coincidentally, I'm trying to Enterpise Activate a Sprint BB as we speak and having issues, "server not responding".
at&t - Pearl - haven't been getting emails since this morning....still nothing....time to get an iPhone???
This is getting fricking old. If Rim thinks this is going to fly they can kiss my BB goodbye! (Uhappily Sprint BB owner)
VZW BB still down at 8:40 PM EDT.
My Verizon BB was down from 3ish to 8pm est
I'm using a BB 8703e on Verizon Wireless. I haven't seen an email come in to it since 9:00am Pacific.

Southern California
Maybe no one likes you...j/k
No issues here or anyone at my company (at least from what I know....>2k users). Cingular/West Coast.
Work phone: 8700c, AT&T, no issues.
Wife's phone: 8703e, Sprint, no issues.
Both in Texas.
Wait... we're not getting email.
Oh, never mind; that's because no one is emailing us.
HOW DARE THEY. THIS IS THE LAST STRAW. I'M TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE.
I am still pretty much down, haven't received any of my messages??? I am a Cingular/ATT Customer.
I had to drink by myself at happy hour for an almost an hour because my girlfriend didn't get my email saying I was there and to meet me, it was terrible! I had to watch ESPN and talk to the hot girl next to me at the bar!
Then I resent her service books from my Dash and my emails to her started coming to her 8700.
Rogers in Toronto Canada, didn't get any emails from about noon until 8pm, seems to back up and running now. Couple co-workers on Telus were affected as well, not sure if they're operational again though.
up in Canada, Telus 8703e, no problems all day.
Same here in Atlanta. bb wif ATT
Verizon service in Baltimore, MD. I had 10 users down today.
Current status unknown.
I have ATT. I called them at 8:30 pm and the morons said they were not aware of any problem, then after 20 minutes on hold they said there is a problem (no shit??) then said no fix time was posted. MY emails are coming in at 25-percent 6 to 8 hours old. It started at 10 am on Friday.
Seattle T-Mobile, I got an email from an imap account at 17:32, work at 16:40, I don't think there's any issue. I'll double-check my real inboxes to make sure.
Yeah I can send and receive. Note times given are PST8PDT: it's only 18:14 here right now.
Just confirmed. We're still down in Baltimore on Verizon.
I'll try the service books right now.
Telcel, in Mexico City is having problem with BB's too.
I'm in NYC. My Verizon Crackberrys have not been working all day.
I am on CellularOne in Elizabethtown KY, service has been out since 10am EST, I just called tech support and they said that they don't have a ETA of when the issue will be resolved. It has been working off and on today, was working great till 10AM, no e-mails from then to about 2:30PM, about 4:30PM they quit again and hasn't came back up.
I think it's time to invade Canada.
Verizon 8830 in central NY--been down all afternoon. Just resent service books to see if that fixes it. Very, very frustrating.
Bring it on, we might not have a great army... but do we have enough pure maple syrup to drown you all. :) haha
still out with Nextel
Monterey, CA on AT&T. No data service at all on a BlackBerry Pearl and a Treo 680. Going on three days now.
Calling Customer Care and getting put on hold involves a note about "heavy call volume due to technical problems affecting general data services." Somehow I'm not satisfied with the fact that "[their] technicians are working as quickly as possible."
New Orleans T-Mobile BB Pearl doing just fine.
Southeastern North Carolina on AT&T -- no bBerry service since noon time. 9:41pm, est .. its still out.
My mail is just starting to come through. Before a few minutes ago, I hadn't gotten any messsages since ~9AM PST on Verizon.
AT&T West Coast Northern California - No problem all day.
Aw. Are you guys suffering from withdrawal symptoms? How about just taking a day off and catch up tomorrow? I doubt if any of you lost a million dollar deal from not answering an email. Or did you?
Oh no my email's not... oh wait... i'm using a treo. my email always works.
Seriously- it's time like this when those of us with treos, and almost every other smartphone on the market remember why we didn't go with blackberry. I We can do anything we want with our phones and we've got no middle-man (or datacenter in canada) between us and our email.
But then again, i feel the pain of being confined in a closed minded banking/financial/law related business that thinks that blackberries are the best because they are secure- and they're secure because the government uses them... or being stuck on lotus notes...
blackberries were great back in the days of the 957 (i had one) and they were the only solution available. things have changed and there are much better solutions out there...
AT&T - NY/Long Island - Blackberry 8800 -
Been on the fritz for 3 days now, and hasn't worked at all today.
Live in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles and still haven't had an email all day. Sent multiple test messages (including one about 3 minutes ago [653PM PST]) and no luck. Friends on all different services also seem to be affected, three on T-Mobile (including myself), and one on AT&T.
There was an outage?
I am in Kentucky with AT&T, last email in my BlackBerry was 10:42 am EST, nothing since. Still nothing. I managed to get someone on the phone who told me that there were some "data issues" in the area. Phone and SMS seem to work OK.
was working fine until Oops no mail at 9AM EST today, Friday; it's still out at 10PM.
I'm with T-Mobile in Washington, DC. My company has about 10 bberry's all were having problems ALL day. Very little if any email came through. I resent service books to my bb and it took 10 minutes for me to get the confirmation email. It has been over 30 minutes since I got that email and nothing has come through.
My Pearl's been out since last night. (T-Mobile)
I should have gotten a what instead of an iPhone?
ATT - Baltimore
Emails to all addresses except mycingular.blackberry.net address seem to be working fine now (after sending service books at 10pm). blackberry.net emails are really slow. Get them about 20 minutes after they were sent.
Missing the emails that came between 6pm and 10pm
My sprint was out from 'round noon until just after 6pm mtn time. Then all of a sudden everything just started coming in all at once.
Nextel BB user in Michigan - I've had no problems all day. Just received messages a few minutes ago.
Verizon 8703e - mail via that service has been down all day, Enterprise has been ok.
Denver, ATT haven't received an email since 8:35 this morning. Don't seem 'resolved' to me LOL.
I'm in Austin, TX, on T-Mobile, and have not received email all day - it's now 10:23 at night and STILL no email - ugh!!
By stock in them now. right now, as it will be lower due to this outage, then it will go back up tomorrow when things are back to normal.
My tip of the day.
verizon 8703e in michigan was down all day. Gmail saved me!!
No e-mail from around noon CDT until now when I resent my service books.
Forgot to say I'm on T-Mobile.
Not working at least during the last 12 hours.
The service provider is Movistar in Chile.
Cheers
Still down in Phoenix...I am with Sprint. It has been at least 12 hours now.
I'm in Chicago, with AT&T and i've been out of service since about noon central time....
Florida, T-Mobile, BB Pearl. Out since 11am Fri; still out at 2am Sat.
at&t, blackberry pearl - no emails from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. I admin about 20 bb's, and they ALL experienced issues today (CA, AZ, UT, CO). It's surprising (and a little disturbing) how much we depend on instant email!
I apparently was affected by it since I just now got 5 e-mails all at once that had shown up in Thunderbird around 15 hours ago. Go T-Mobile in New York City! Woo! Or RIM or whoever messed up.
its been fixed.
As of 2 AM Texas time, my T-Mo BB is sending me my mail from my BB account. I have yet to get anything from my AOL account.
This reportedly affected T-Mo, Sprint, Nextel, Cingular and Verizon as reported on another forum I am part of.
Forgot to mention that mine had been down since 9 PM last night (when I first noticed it). It could have been down earlier but I didn't notice it. I am in the Houston, TX area.
Significant delays on my blackberry with T-mobile network today.
Verizon wireless, yahoo email user, blackberry 8703e, still down. Not working. This sucks.
This is still not working. NO yahoo email. verizon blackberry 8703e. sunday, sept 9, 2007, 326pm, eastern time. nyc.
BIS not working also in Argentina. Same problems.
STILL down.
Verizon Wireless. 8703e. Sunday Sept 9, 2007 @ 22:22 EST GMT -5:00
TMobile, San Francisco, Sunday 7:59PM.
I'm still not getting my mail.
fortunately blackberries in europe were unaffected.

Companies like RIM have spent billions of dollars on software from big vendors to fix slow or failing applications but these monitoring tools only go so far. Unfortunately, CEOs or CFOs aren't aware of the problem until the service - such as Blackberry - goes down or underperforms. Organizations need to be able to ensure the predictable operation of mission critical applications to ensure that business systems operate at their fullest potential—essentially allowing a service outage or slowdown to be resolved before customers are impacted. Without this, companies like RIM will continue to face the scrutiny of unhappy customers in the face of ongoing service outages.
Still having problems with T-Mobile. I start receiving email and then they disappear. Neat trick, yea? No it really frustrates me to no end
