I understand that USB2 in always all implementations won't go even close to fullspeed in real life, it's a pity because it would get attractive once these flashkeys reach 50's in read/write speed. Does anybody know if the new chipsets that keep getting released like the x35 and amd's offerings etcetera can do anywhere near REAL 480mbit?
Or perhaps they should start releasing firewire/IEEE1394 flashkeys!
35MB/s are 280mbit/s. So it is already quite close to the theorical full speed, that would be 51MB/s. But you have to count in errors and controls bit ;)
Hmm, well 280 isn't THAT close to 480, even if you add 20% overhead you got some space to go, but yeah 50 would be the limit, so I guess they will have to go 1394b or eSATA or something. Both of which are less demanding on the system too. I wonder who will be the first, I guess it depends on who slaps together a tiny interface chip to enable such.
