it would be awesome for sony to incorporate these screens in next years laptops without putting the prices up to new rediculous heights.
do i have to say it again
yes. Please tell us again applefreak
Imagine a laptop with a display this thin (and a nice strong back for it of course)!

Indeed. I'm pretty sure that Koreans are crying.
This is great news!
Frak is a four letter word!
Samsung isnt crying. They are #1 in OLED above Sony in market share.
I buy Samsung products because its a Korean company.
Um, nobody is out to market yet with an OLED display of anything close to this size. Samsung has shown a 27" concept TV, but it's nowhere near this sexy, and MUCH farther from entering production.
Sony is also leading the industry in flexible full-color screens, though those are even further from production.
If only Sony would only drop the PS3, kill the entire SCEI/SCEA organization, and focus on A/V electronics again, they would totally OWN Samsung for the forseeable future.
No, I'm not Korean. 100% American Bronx boy.
Then why base your product choice solely on it being korean?
check out oled on wikipedia.
only 5000 hour lifespan... not too practical.
Does anyone know if there's an HDMI port? I know, i know "how can a 1080p OLED with a million-to-one contrast ratio NOT have hdmi ports?", but you couldn't trust any major corporation with a baby, not even those hermit crabs you buy down the shore that live for a year or two. So adding an HDMI port to a crazy-contrast "monitor" would seem common sense, right? not really Case-in-point: http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/12/hitachi-unveils-103-inch-1080p-plasma-display-of-its-own/
That thing is skinnier than Nicole Richie.
The internet is frought with idiots. OLEDs are newer technology; an OLED TV of any size will be an advancement. Who cares that it's 11 inches. Laptop monitors are about that size.
"OF what use is a new born baby?"
I've seen prototypes of the OLED panels and boy are they cool. If money is no object, they definately make a strong "first on the block" kind of statement. Stay tuned for future news about OLED beyond Japan at sony.com/news or our new company blog at www.sony.com/electronicsblog.
I wouldn't let my 3 year old near it! Does it really have to be this thin or is it just for effect? Darn nice picture though.
