iPhone interface thrown on Archos 605 WiFi
It's not unusual to see engineering users cram a different interface (or even a different OS) on their handheld, but for a certain individual parked over in France, the wait for an iPhone became too much to bear. Consequently, Archos Lounge member olidiams crafted what he so eloquently dubbed the "archiphone," and while details on the modified 605 WiFi are still slim at this point, the finished product doesn't look too shabby. Hold tight, dear Europeans, your bonafide iPhone should be arriving soon -- but till then, be sure and hit the read link for a few more looks.

Great.
I have always wanted to see this.
I feel complete.

the ipony is a crappy device in europe
jeti @ Sep 15th 2007 9:21AM
These are just a number of screenshots or mockups displayed
in the normal image viewer of the device. It would have been
more convincing if the OSD was turned off. You can see the
AVOS status bar on the left (top) border of the screen.
Jouke90 @ Sep 15th 2007 9:34AM
As if anyone in Europe is waiting on the Iphone.
Argot @ Sep 15th 2007 1:56PM
I'm waiting! So that I can point and laugh at it.

It has nothing iPhone OS software on. It is just a flash webpage that you open on the browser i have it on my psp.
BatteryAcid @ Sep 15th 2007 11:11AM
If he could just get it onto the Samsung's SGH-F700. I wonder if his efforts will make the os easer to port.

People should just create something that they've though of instead of recreating an existing interface. This leads to less innovation in our society. If someone could modify archos to that extent, he/she could have done a really amazing job creating something new.

hypocrite/spammer...
why dont u give away ur free iPods;we can stick to the newer, innovative interface, cant we?
Anthony @ Sep 15th 2007 4:05PM
yeah, that's just the ipsp flash file, thats even displayed sideways like it is on the psp, which is stupid, because the mune's for the archos device are the landscape way. so these so called super awesome people are just playing a good flash-game.
Gerald @ Sep 16th 2007 1:04AM
Wow. That's REALLY like that iPSP flash portal for the PSP web browser. I think I smell a ripoff.

Hey umm does anyone know how to get that flash webpage on my archos. i just bought one and was curious if any of u psp ppl could help
Maggie @ Nov 9th 2007 3:02PM
I recently purchased an Archos 605, 80GB PMP.
Using my Archos PMP for several days, I'm having
trouble getting to the URL screen. Initially, when
I click on the "Web icon", it takes me to a pop-up
screen that offers me the opportunity to either "buy" Opera or not buy it ("cancel"). When I click on "Cancel", I'm sent back to the main desktop. At the same time, if I click on "Buy Now", it takes me to a web page where I can click on "Buy Now". If I initiate this key, it says "you already have the web plug-in. At that point, there is no navigational bar or key board to type in a URL address. How do you get to URL web page at this stage where I can surf?
