Yeah, we've seen this puppy around before, but never gotten this close. This here's the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero III's Les Paul, complete with green-glowing Xbox 360 Guide button and wirelessness. Big ups to Red Octane for the extra fret board stylings and refined look, but we'd to look forward to playing with this one come October if they wired up a cardboard box to do the honors.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but have they announced which games the GH2/GH3/Rock Band guitars are going to work with on the 360? I know they said GH2 guitars would work with Rock Band, but I haven't heard anything else (i.e. will GH2 guitars work with GH3 and vice versa?). If they aren't mutually compatible, there are going to be a lot of people (me included) that will be pissed off because they don't want a room full of plastic guitars to play all these games.
GH2 controllers will work with RB and GH3. RB controller is backwards compatible, but unknown if it will work with GH3. Same goes for the GH3 controller - backwards compatible but no one knows yet if it plays nice with RB.
So the GH2 controllers will play nice with everything, and all the new stuff will play nice with GH2. That's good to know. Hopefully they GH3 and Rock Band play nice as well, I don't think anybody (well, anybody but Activision/Red Octane) wants to have to buy separate guitars for separate games.
Wow - if you are going to go this far... why not learn how to play a real guitar? Could probably pay for a few professional lessons with the money that you would spend on the guitar and game.
Um, actually, no? You'd have to pay for a real guitar, which alone costs more than GH3 (which is $100/$90). And the cost of professional lessons, I'm guessing, is more than $100?
Besides, who wants to play a real guitar when veg out on your sofa playing GH3 in hi-def and pwn noobs on Xbox Live? ;]
Did you think up those all by yourselves? Or did your mommy help?

You have just stated the obvious. Video games are for leisure.
Hey I've played guitar for close to 15 years now and dissed it too until I played it at a friends house. It's really a lot of fun, especially when you play with people who can't play guitar that kick your ass! I also bet that there are a lot of kids that get the urge to learn the real thing from these games too.
“We dig the loop function, but sometimes the Beatbox struggled to reproduce multiple effects at any instance, which is probably why the famed Brett Domino got help in his video.”
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.

yeah, but learning to play a real guitar actually has some merit in the game of life.
Guitar Hero Guitar != Real Guitar
Guitar Hero = Game
You = idiot
It's just for fun, so shut up.

I know I bought a real guitar because of Guitar Hero. :)
Actually, I got a bass because of GH1.
And my brother got a guitar because I got a bass... so I guess technically Guitar Hero influenced him, too.
Transitive property of video games, I suppose.
