Explay's QVGA oio micro-projector shown at CEATEC
Explay's oio nanoprojector has been on our radar for some time, and regrettably, it's still no closer to actually launching. According to Noam Zur, Vice President of Business Development for the company, the second-generation oio "will be commercialized in 2008 to 2009," which is a bit later than we had previously hoped. Nevertheless, the prototype shown was indeed battery powered, could fit in one's palm and offered up a QVGA (320 x 240) resolution. Additionally, it was stated that the "target power consumption is one-watt," and while the outfit would love to one day cram these things into mobile device, it'll be marketed as a standalone device at first.

Instead of churning up some micro sized projecters and macro-res others, why don't they make an affordable projecter that has some sort of OK (IE-720I or P) res so that some kids and teens can actually like have a projecter in their room...
I agree, teens need to project their pron.
Lol, with the cheapness of projectors on fleabay these days, the youff only need to deal a few drugs to be able to embrace large screen video.
Or they'll just rob one from their school! :D
Its called the PK-20 by Mitsubishi, you can grab one for 350 bucks and is the same size, and 800x600 res. As well as being a LED projector meaning you have a good 10k hours on that lamp life. Works great for movies in dark rooms. If you want anything bigger than a 60" though you might be hard pressed to get it focused.
What hasn't been appreciated wrt such beamers is 1. that many people have serious vision issues with traditional bright screens, which are solved with the naturally low-glare beamers, and 2. having a cheap beamer built into a box could very well make it a really handy smart device, one that could be set up anywhere there is a little white or near white flat space. Freedom from CRTs, LCDs and other heavy, expensive and prone to break glass thingies.
