How about answering the question? My son asks about Xbox all the time, I have no clue as to the difference. Oh yeah, try using English when answering the question, in case you weren't aware, that's the language of choice in the United States.
Thanks
Yeah, that'll get you a reply.
With that attitude, I'm sure everyone will take the time to scroll back through the thread, looking for your original question.
You can play Halo 3 online with it.
I'm sure you'll be fine with the discs.
also, not to beat a dead horse ( alot of my engadget posts seems to mention this)
but bravo to engadget for getting this info before its sister gaming site joystiq, i still dont get it, but props for being on top of stuff like this.
Well I am not going to open up the thing just to check what the nm on the chip is, or to see if they updated the Motherboard to the falcon with the new Heat-sink, and sadly I can't check the drive. but hey you guys can always paypal me donations Ill get another one and open that up. Unless off course engadget fowards the thing to joystiq and they open it up.
Emanuel,
You don't need to open the Xbox 360 case up to see if it has the new chipset:
http://forums.xbox.com/15804553/ShowPost.aspx
You can check the drive here: http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/Xbox_360_DVD_Drive_Comparison.htm
And you can check for 65nm by following my guide linked to above. No warranty voiding needed!
Can you add on a hard drive to the xbox 360 arcade without having to open it? Can it support a hard drive? If yes, thank you!!!! If no, thans anyways. Thanks!!!!
It's street dated for October 23. (source was a big orange sticker on the box as I unloaded it for Wal-Mart)
heck i can verify the price for you. I work at a huge retailer and we have these sitting in the back for an oct 23 release, marked at $279
oh yeah, and we should have recieved the premium bundle packs, although i haven't actually seen them or a price yet.
IT came in last night where I work off the truck. Street date sticker on it is for 10/28.
I think its a pretty good deal myself. Theres tons of 20gig HDs available now that the 120's are out and people are upgradeing.
I got 2 quistions:
Is the Arcade not capable of playing the old Xbox games because it doesn't have a hard drive or have they disabled that feature altogether?
Are all versions of the Xbox now include the HDMI port?
Premiums with HDMI is hit or miss but it's easier to get with HDMI than it was a month ago. All elites of course have HDMI and Im sure no current core SKUs have HDMI. The Hard Drive is required for backwards compatibility with old xbox games.
ok, well I was assuming that the Arcade was replacing the core. So you just have to make sure you dont get an old version of the premium if you want HDMI.
P.S. And I never did get a password
To those talking about 256MB not being enough. I agree somewhat. However it's good for the casual gamer. If they want a hard drive, they can pony up another 70 dollars and get one. If not, then they're good. Besides, it plays Halo 3 right out of the box, so that'll keep most people busy for a while.
And if push comes to shove, I'm sure you can get a cheap HD on ebay.
what is ittt???????
Why do I buy things when something cheaper is around the corner. Dangit. More halo 3 it is.
Why do I buy things when something cheaper is around the corner. Dangit. More halo 3 it is.
Honestly now people, who the hell is going to buy this thing?
Why wouldn't someone buy it?
I finally bought a "Go Pro" bundle this weekend (20 GB HDD, component cables, wireless controller, headset, Forza 2/Marvel Alliance) and am very glad that I did. The Arcade pack with the 256MB memory card wouldn't have been nearly enough to do anything as I actually do want to use Xbox Live and download game demos, Marketplace Content. I also was pleasantly surprised that I was able to FINALLY connect to my Windows XP Media Center PC and stream videos (you know which kind) to my HDTV and watch easily with a $15 Xbox remote control. Pure bliss.
Halo/Gears Of War/Orange Box addiction in 3, 2, 1...
Your wife should divorce you for being too fucking dumb and lazy to just pick up your 360 and move it around when the TV or monitor is busy. Douchebag.
I would buy it for one. I am on disability and every little penny counts. I am also willing to bet theres alot of parents out there that will be buying this for there kids this Christmas.
sure, I would prefer the Halo Edition but I got to watch what I spend my money on or I dont eat for a while.
I think this is cool. The memory card is the kicker, moreso than free games. Though if I recall the PS1/PS2 never came with a card and it seemed to do OK :) But of course the Wii, better 360's and PS3 can do saves out of the box, which made the old Core suck.
I bet a lot of people with older non HDMI 360's (including myself) will get this, pop on their HDD, then sell the old system. Since the new heat sink is on newer Premiums they're an excellent chance this has them as well. 65nm, that might "trickle down" and be on the upper units first.
Likely this'll have the same MB as the other units for now.
So this is the Falcon version. Just looking at the pics and saw that the lot number is 0735. I was told that if the lot number is 0734 or higher it was the Falcon version.
So, is there the newest consoll called Falcon or not?
So is engadget gonna fix this article? Thats some huge misinformation going on there. Its 5 games + 5 demos.
Wow, went from, nice deal to ripoff. It _was_ a good value. Now its just, meh.
Hey guys just a question:
Can i install the 5 live arcade games into memory card?
Wow, this thing is such a waste of money... Within a month you'll never touch most of those arcade games again once you have Halo 3 or Gears, that memory card will be full with just those games (that memory card might not even be able to hold all those games...) Demo's over LIVE are aboug 1gig each and trust me you'll be getting a couple because 1. They're actually really fun especially multiplayer ones and 2. Might as well try the game out before you buy it. Seriously, don't even consider buying this and if possible get a Elite, they are such a good deal.
Any chance of getting the ASIN or DCPI number for the Arcade? I'd like to check target stocks around here..
So I'm not entirely sure I have this correct, but I did buy both the Premium 360 and Wii as each came out (F*ck the ps3, lol). As I understand it, the wii has been destroying the competition (feel free to be wrong by d
disagreeing).
The wii came out with next to no hard drive space (honestly, probably not much more than a really cheap memory card accessory for the 360 would cost, you dont NEED a HDD if you can just buy a bigger card for cheap if you are only saving games).
The wii also did not have fully integrated internet capabilities (granted its not as important for it, but there was no ethernet rather than no wireless).
The wii also came out with five (amazing) relatively crappy games compared to games you buy for the system.
The wii did not come with high definition cables (or real capability).
I know I have just been talking about the wii, but does anyone else see how Microsoft is BLATANTLY doing EXACTLY what Nintendo has been doing since the wii came out? It's EXACTLY what they should have been doing from the start honestly, was have this model and the premium model (and the elite is really a waste, just say buy the extra HDD, whatever). No harddrive, lessened internet, no major need for backwards compatibility anyways, standard definition cables, and 5 games, all for under $300 ($299 vs $250).
This is why Sony and Blue-Ray will CONTINUE to be in third, because they can't accept that someone else was better, and adjust themselves to follow the better product.
Useless if this system is going to red light too.
Can't know if it has the falcon chip and/or the new heatsink. I think MS Is trying to get rid of the consoles no one wants while asking for the new ones with the better heatsinks. I would wait till 2008 when the jasper GPU Chip comes out but unless they change color or console with those chips you still wont know. I bOUGHT THE HALO 360 BECAUSE AT LEAST i know it was built in August 2007!
I'm rather stuck here. See I currently am in a situation where I no longer have any video gaming consoles and my reward to myself for quitting smoking is going to be an xbox360. Still, I only make about 600 a paycheck and I want to do this in two weeks. I have two very specific questions about playing an xbox without a harddrive. First, will the Oblivion expansion, Shivering Isles, be available without a HD and second, can you play FFXI online without an HD?
Hey, everyone i juste return from a futureshop..i read carrefully..you can't play your old game of xbox wihtout a HD..so if you buy the Arcade xbox 360..forget the nostalgic xbox games.. ;)
thanks all
BTW.. for those still reading this post, the Arcade 360 is Falcon based (65nm). You can see the difference in heat and noise.
Also the 5 games are the full versions. There are other demo arcade games on the disc as well.
i have a xbox 360 but it recently got the "lights of fire". so what i was thinking is getting the arcade. and then putting my old hard drive in there?
is this a good idea? or can it even be done? please repond.
btw: i cant get the other one fixed because i put a custom case on it and it is labelled "tampered and unfixable"
THANK YOU
I want to get an xbox for my boyfriend for Christmas and I saw the arcade version for much cheaper. He mentioned that he wanted to xbox so he could play games with his friends but all be in different houses. Is that something he could do with the arcade version????? I'm clueless about these things.
Ohhh...finally my questions answered.
Yeah, from a parent perspective, the arcade IS "good enough" for the under 12 set. My kid does not need downloadable content and demos. Frankly kiddo does not need an xbox at all. It is all in the cool factor for him and getting the job done is all that matters.
My fiance is in the market for an XBOX 360, as his XBOX broke during a recent move. He only plays the PGA Tour game- and he likes being able to save as he plays- and probably only plays about 10 hours a week. Will the XBOX Arcade memory suffice for this? He already has the wireless controllers, and I would like to save the $ if he will be satisfied with the memory of the Arcade. Since Christmas is around the corner I would appreciate any feedback you gamers can offer. I am new to this :) Thanks! ~Sara
question: with the xbox 360 arcade, can you play xbox live? i am not looking to download anything, just play online with my friends....if not, if i bought a hard drive could i?
I just baught a arcade and on the box it said 230 w and the lot number was 0743and date was made in october 2007. i dint know if it was a falcon but on the net it tells u to shine a light through the bottom vent and if ther are 2 flat rings on the motherboard rappd with barbwire then it is a falcon mine had that and also had the new heatsink so im happy :)
