Leopard hacked for Intel PC consumption
We've come to expect our Apple-related hacks early and user friendly these days, but we've still got mad respect for the folks at OSx86 Scene who've managed to get Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard up and running on Intel PCs on launch day -- the day before if you felt like being a bit less upright about it. The hack requires a minimum of trickery on your part: just a burnable DVD, USB thumb drive and a bit of luck. Not everything's super tested just yet, and OSx86 Scene will be expanding support and simplifying the process as time goes on, but this is sure a promising start.

I wonder when was the last time anybody reading this went out protesting in the streets or in a blog?
I wonder when was the last time anybody in America felt like telling THEIR government what they can do and can not do, instead of standing around saying... oh well, what can you do about it?
I wonder when was the last time a person decided to take upon them self a task that he/she felt necessary? e.g. chase down a purse snatcher and you've done a good deed. Protest against your government, try to stop a corporation, maybe go for this world peace thing and all of sudden, it is pointless!
Below are some quotes from Albert Einstein.
"If A is a success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut."
"Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding."
"Never do anything against conscience even if the state demands it. "
"The hardest thing to understand in the world is the income tax. "
"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."
"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
"Too many of us look upon Americans as dollar chasers. This is a cruel libel, even if it is reiterated thoughtlessly by the Americans themselves."
"It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity."
And one of my favorite quotes ever...
"The world is not dangerous because of those who do harm but because of those who look at it without doing anything."
I know that this post has nothing to do with the current topic however it is very rare that you hear anybody doing/challenging anything from what we want to have to the courses of actions which we need to take to obtain that things that we all want but never do. Very rare do we see/hear/read about this in the newspapers, radio, internet, T.V. or even a tech blog... except from what we know as a philanthropist!
XZavier - Your comments are exactly in line with the topic of this thread. Speaking out, if only on a blog, is activism. "Pointless" is not in my vocabulary.
Great quotes. Thank you.
I hope Steve Jobs eats you, crazy lady. Your idealistic views hold no value in the world.
And yet you fail to realize that ToH (Team of Hackint0sh) of whom I associate, had the kernel hacked on the 20th and a native install on the 22nd. The DVD we released didn't require a flash drive, and we have video proof of it running and not just a cheesy picture. Granted BrazilMAC did make a great post and he is credible, this story is not entirely accurate.

Please oh please oh please someone 'hack' Leopard (or any OS 10 product) to work on my PS3. That would be truly a sweet feat.
I think the HD has to be 7200 RPM...sorry :o(
blah-hah-hah!!!
Hard drives are pretty easy to switch on the old PS3. 7200 rpms should be no problem to put on it...
Can you put the Mac OS on a UMPC, like the OQO?
For those of you who say this is stupid...do it on Mac native hardware...No. That's not the point.
Say I have the following scenario: my friend, who insists on using Macintosh, is just jonesing for a new computer. Me, in my infinite wisdom, offer to build him one, but dag gummit, just can't get myself to buy Genuine Apple Parts.
What's a hardware geek to do?
Why, download the latest Leopard image, with x86 cpu enabled. Now, hardware is not tied to the bloody software anymore. No, I don't agree with my friend's choice of software, but hey, if you must get OS X, at least get cheap hardware, and don't give all of your money to the Jobs-Mob.
Peace.
@peternj
Soooo... Zune works with Linux and OS X? No? Didn't think so.
Does anyone know of a way I can get Leopard running on my PC with an AMD processor?
>>>>No, all mac OS upgrades were free until around 1993 or so. Then when MS started charging for Windows 95,>>>
MS always charged for Windows. 3.1 was $150. Why would they work for free? http://www.windows-now.com/files/folders/21093/download.aspx
>>>>>Old school Mac users still use the free os approach>>>>
You mean pirating?
>>>>>so putting a serial number in there is insinuating their customers are thieves>>>>
Evidently, this would be a correct insinuation.
Also, at the university I attend, I am able to get MS development software & OS's for free because of one of many of Microsoft's investment in education. Not to mention the hundreds of computers supplied at a reduced rate by Dell for the entire campus. The cost of replacing all those with Macs? Ridiculously huge. The cost of PC's allow me to set up my home network and a media center PC with spare parts from my job for next to nothing.
