Black Eee PCs arriving soon
We're pretty fond of the Eee PC's current design, but for those of you looking for something a little more pro, Expansys and Directron are both listing the black version we saw a while back for a $20 markup. Expansys is listing ship time at 8 days, so if you're already used to waiting for a white one, it shouldn't be too bad.

anyone know when best buy will start carrying the eee pc? i hear that they are the first retail vendor...
Check PC Club...
ExcaliberPC already sells the black EEE's. Do your research Engadget...
I like white gadgets, but the Eee looks kinda cheap in white. Black suits it better.
Actually, the white is kinda pearly. I'd thought I'd have preferred the black like everyone else here, but there's something about the white that makes it really attractive - it's more a gentle creamy colour.
I luff my eeepc.
Id have to agree with you there mate, I think the black looks a bit, bland and somehow more plasticy, whereas i find myself oddly compelled to the white..
Guys, if you plan to talk about these in real life for Dog's sake don't say:
"You hear about the new Black Eee's?"
I still don't understand the demand for this, given its 3.5 hour battery life.
A great product in a great segment but where @#$%^ are the $199, I mean $259 ones? First they start off with $399, now we are getting $419. We are going the wrong direction and I'm starting to get POd. Keep it up Asus and I'll forget all about your product and put my credit card back in my pocket.
Well I guess a $20 premium for a different color is better than a $200 one, even in relative terms...cough, cough
Not "hating" on the Eee (though I think we've entered the age of really silly names), but I'd rather get an XO laptop for $400 knowing that half of that goes to a worthwhile project instead. Never mind all of the XO laptop's special features.

Give em a break... all the cool names like Java and Leopard have been gobbled up by trademark lawyers years ago...
Wow...the forums are wild over there. When did you build that site, this morning? Voting...down.
They say once you do black you never go back... I do not limit myself to such limitations... Living in San Francisco I have enjoy all styles, colors and sizes...
I don't limit myself to limitations either.
First +$100 for a $15 screen, now +$20 for a $0 change in plastic. Cut the crap Asus.
It's not $20 more at Directron. It's $399 for both the white and black models. No premium for different color plastic there.
I don't know about Expansys; they might be gouging.
Directron has a $427 bundle, that's an EeePC with a 4GB SD card though.
Why are people so concerned about the price (which i personally think is fine for a device like this) . . why not the embarreassingly low resolution on the screen? 800×480 !!?! thats hardly even useable.
I'd love one of these, but I'm gonna wait for the next version . . hopefully with a slightly larger screen with at least 1024x768 res
It's funny how the fans of UMPCs are no where to be seen. Asus is taking big gamble with the Eee PC but if it manages to find the "missing piece of the puzzle" with this device as opposed to the flop of the UMPC then Asus will be onto a winner...
