Nokia's N82 spotted, handled in the wild
In the midst of all this Gphone hysteria, we won't fault you for forgetting about a Nokia candybar first noticed way back in May, but pictured above is the first (confirmed, at least) in the wild shot of the firm's 5MP-packin' N82. You heard right -- this handset sports a five-megapixel camera (complete with Carl Zeiss lens and a Xenon flash), WiFi, Bluetooth, integrated GPS, 3G connectivity, Nokia Music Store access and automatic screen rotation. Regrettably, there's still no word on a price / release date, but click on through for a couple more angles, and check out what the built-in camera can do in the read link.

Dubai does look gorgeous...
it does look like Dubai anyways and it seems right, as most of the phones come out there first.
John @ Nov 7th 2007 4:26PM
are you joking? Although the Emirates is a great place, Dubai is not one of the first, and it is also one of the most expensive.
If anywhere, I'd say Qatar is (or Doha, Dubai's older brother)
huggles @ Nov 7th 2007 12:15PM
But can it play Crysis?
Kizorblade @ Nov 7th 2007 12:18PM
It's more likely to play Doom then Crysis, but we can hope
Fernando @ Nov 7th 2007 12:20PM
The latest hit among S60 phone is quake now :P
And omg hot, if it is brushed metal!
Al @ Nov 7th 2007 2:03PM
Someone already made quake for it
b_a_boone @ Nov 7th 2007 2:33PM
Fernando!
Not brushed Polished!
Jeff @ Nov 7th 2007 12:21PM
ugly
Gorjan @ Nov 7th 2007 12:26PM
2nd that! Look terrible!
bugmat @ Nov 7th 2007 2:09PM
Agreed though I'd hope that this is just the phone before the spray paint!
B @ Nov 7th 2007 12:27PM
Etisalat Network...Thats in Emirates and the Dude has the time zone set to Abu Dhabi
(Emirates Capitol)...
Michael @ Nov 7th 2007 12:29PM
Oh hot damn! I have the N73, which I LOVE, but the camera quality could be a little better. The N95 was my cream dream for awhile, but this tops it because 1) I'm not a slider fan and 2) It finally has a Xenon flash!!!!
Now, if only it had North American 3G. I am a bit jealous of my friends with 3G here in Southern California. (And of my Palm 750, but that's about all it does better than my N73.)
BiG @ Nov 7th 2007 3:28PM
I'm sure they will have an alternate to chrome, but, nonetheless, this is why I haven't jumped on an iPhone...
Mrmean @ Nov 7th 2007 12:45PM
ugly as hell!
David D. @ Nov 7th 2007 12:53PM
It is indeed ugly but I have to wonder if I should get this now because of the camera or the US N95.
bachviet @ Nov 7th 2007 12:55PM
If you are with AT&T and has data plan, you should get the N95-3 since we still don't know when this phone is available.
bachviet @ Nov 7th 2007 12:53PM
Don't like the keypad too much but I love the features on this phone.
Andrew @ Nov 7th 2007 1:00PM
how are you meant to play 'snakes' with that keypad?
aka_gus @ Nov 7th 2007 1:07PM
I'd recommend just using the 3 & 7 keys.
Aah, I remember the good old days playing snake on my 3120 during class...
uber19 @ Nov 7th 2007 2:26PM
Looks great!!!
jason @ Nov 9th 2007 2:43PM
i shall have to buy this tight phone.
PDexter @ Nov 7th 2007 1:12PM
Looks are what it are other than that perfect spec for my use and most of all candybar ya! Thought 2.4 screen not 2.6 might set me to N95 8GB will see when N81 comes out.
Btw what is that phone doing in Dubai shouldnt it be in Finland?
PDexter @ Nov 7th 2007 1:31PM
N82 not N81 =)
Pdexter @ Nov 7th 2007 2:11PM
Pff more to fix N95 8GB 2.8 screen.
Why cant we get edit button here!
b_a_boone @ Nov 7th 2007 2:42PM
Dubai is rich B****!!! Dubai is becoming a powerhouse in the exchange market.
Tush @ Nov 7th 2007 1:12PM
Looks like a Sony Ericcson
Jon @ Nov 7th 2007 1:20PM
I wish people would stop with the "looks like S-E comments" already. Nokia used this kind of keypads before! Way back in 1999.
PDexter @ Nov 7th 2007 1:37PM
At least N91 had that keybad, but yeah they all take form each other... old news.
L.Rawlins @ Nov 7th 2007 1:29PM
Expandable memory?
Al @ Nov 7th 2007 2:04PM
Micro SD slot. 32GB max.
L.Rawlins @ Nov 7th 2007 2:20PM
Sold!
Shola @ Nov 7th 2007 1:29PM
Is it me or does it look like it borrowed its design cues from the Palm Centro
derX @ Nov 7th 2007 4:08PM
Sadly, it appears so. So Palm, the Centro is a good deviation, but for Nokia....
However, there are two good differences: (1) Unlike the Centro, the feature set on this is near--assuming there's no American 3G, there almost never is--flawless, so its aesthetics are forgivable; (2) It's really the chrome that's making this such an eyesore, not so much the physical design, Nokia will definitely have this available in more colors, remedying the ugliness.
--------------
Seriously, Nokia: WHY THE HELL DID YOU WRAP SUCH AN AMAZING PHONE IN REYNOLDS WRAP?
abigsmurf @ Nov 7th 2007 2:07PM
big of a shame about the buttons, makes it look a bit like a chinese knockoff but other than that it looks fairly sexy
b_a_boone @ Nov 7th 2007 2:45PM
Keep it real hear it looks like they crossed the Sirocco series and the N series phones and F'd up. The buttons are horrible!
What are those? Buttons for ants!
Vero Pepperrell @ Nov 7th 2007 3:12PM
That phone is absolutely awful: 1. keyboard is a texter's nightmare, 2. that polished finish would drive me nuts, 3. it's still hopelessly S60.
Erk, definitely not an interesting one for me :)
engadget @ Nov 7th 2007 7:11PM
"Hopelessly S60" as opposed to what?
Twitchy @ Nov 7th 2007 3:31PM
I don't care for the 'DeLorean' colour scheme, but I do like the rest of the package. Are the faceplates of the easy swap kind? I hope not, as the phones Nokia produces with that 'feature' are bloody dust magnets.
js @ Nov 7th 2007 4:25PM
They clearly took design cues from the iPhone, with the chrome, accelerometer, and ambient light sensor...
Noxide @ Nov 7th 2007 4:30PM
I wonder if this thing blends...
Johan S @ Nov 7th 2007 5:19PM
That looks like a QVGA resolution screen. Basically, very unwieldy and inconvenient for web browsing. Call me when nokia figures out that some people want to use their phone for web and high resolution display of video.
There is no reason that phone cant have at least a VGA screen.
Pietro @ Nov 7th 2007 8:09PM
@js
even the very first N95 has a built-in accelerometer when it came out. Now tell me they took design cues from your iPhone.
cyuzna @ Nov 7th 2007 8:34PM
Ugly.
As.
Sin.
HapeMask @ Nov 7th 2007 10:41PM
Dunno about everyone else but I think this phone looks delicious...
L.Rawlins @ Nov 9th 2007 9:34AM
One more thing to ask that hasn't been covered, and which the N95 sports... does this model incorporate 'TV-out'?
