Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 v2.0 hits FCC
Microsoft looks to have a "v2.0" version of its Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 in the works -- if these recently-filed FCC docs have any semblance of truth. The new model looks to be toning down the odd tilt of the original, and tossing in an abudance of gold spray paint, but we're otherwise pretty short on facts for this one. Still, lasers. You can't go wrong with lasers.

When I go shopping for wireless mice I check two things, responsiveness for gaming and how the battery is handled. If it can't do those things right then nothing else matters because it won't sell.

Holy shit it's a Cylon!

A nearly shameless rip off of previous Logitech laser mice...

I was thinking the same thing. I usually like M$ keyboards and mice, but this one just says "Hello Logitech".
...I like Logitech stuff too.

Speaking of shameless Logitech ripoffs:

wow, I was just about to say it looks exactly like my vx revolution.
But if they had to copy something i'm glad they copied the logitech mice, cuz those things are a delight to hold.

You got that backwards, Logitech mice are shameless rip off's of the classic wireless MS mice. Microsoft came out with the thumbrest design long before Logitech.

People forget that years ago Microsoft was the leader in keyboards and mice.
sLm4ever @ Nov 12th 2007 6:31PM
it's a mouse !! ... how do you want it to look like other than that !!?

MS is big and powerful...and dumb as a post. I'm guessing they can't crank out ERGONOMICALLY correct mice because the word is too big for 'em. Shame on ALL makers of non-ergonomically correct mice. Maybe the carpal tunnel repair industry is behind all these wrist-damaging mice. Take cover.

whyyyyyy do they refuse to make anything half decent with a wire? i'm still using my intellimouse explorer, this thing isn't going to last forever.
Wormwoody @ Nov 12th 2007 11:49AM
Dammit someone beat me on the cylon comment.
All it needs now is a red strobing LED and a .wav file of "By your command" to play on button clicks

6000 v2?!
Only Microsoft would give a product two version numbers - or the same product an identical name save for a subtly hidden version number.
Sheesh, I'm confused enough already, and I haven't even tried the thing yet.
Drei @ Nov 12th 2007 2:59PM
yeah, but how easily will it mount on a shark's head?

I have the Wireless Laser Mouse 5000, manufactured in August 2006. I love it, the weighted scroll wheel is awesome, the design is symmetrical and feels fairly ergonomic/supportive, and has a nice weight to it (could use a little more). I'm not a gamer though, just a coder.
Re: multiple version numbers, have you guys ever seen D-Link? Same deal, model numbers with different version numbers. And they release like 3-4, not just 2.
CoolBradG @ Nov 12th 2007 4:02PM
That mouse looks awful and uncomfortable.
STiFan @ Nov 13th 2007 8:02AM
Folks, this is actually the new version of the Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 not the NATURAL Wireless Laser Mouse 6000.

I could have done without the design. What this mouse really needs is a clicking scroll wheel. I'm currently using the 1.0 600 and by design, the scroll wheel does not click and is as sensitive as a trip mine.
