Um, I know that Micrsoft might not know this, but most credit cards DON'T have minimum purchase amounts - in fact, most merchant agreements for accepting credit cards disallow minimum purchase amounts.
So, pretty much, MS is feeding the customers a line to justify obfuscatory tactics. Yay for them!
