Sony denies the PlayStation Phone, as usual

Well, that didn't take long. Just shortly after Sony Computer Entertainment co-chief operating officer Jim Ryan opened his mouth and rekindled rumors of a PlayStation Phone, Sony has now shot back and flatly denied that any such device is in the works. According to ComputerAndVideoGames.com, Sony says, "Jim Ryan was in fact misquoted by the Economic Times of India about this issue," adding that, "We do have talks with other arms of the Sony family about various topics but I can confirm we are not currently working together on the creation of a PlayStation Phone." So, that certainly seems to put a damper on that idea for the time being, although we suspect it won't take all that much longer for the rumor to crop up once again, at least as long as Sony is in the business of making both cellphones and video games.
Even if it's not real, that is the ugliest phone ever.
Maybe the phone will really come like all other products and deals sony denies
Sony is really hurting thier reputatuin with all these lies. I doubt sony will hurt the ericson by adding a phone to the cheeper PSP, but then again, sony said that rumble will never exsist with the motion sensors

can you please take down that HIDEOUS looking mock-up of a playstation phone...even all the KIRFs featured on engadget don't match up to the ugliness of that "thing"

The one posted at Giz isn't that bad. If an slimmer phone like that one came out I would hate it as much as the N-gage.
Why do companies care so much about people thinking what they may or may not produce? If anything, those rumors should raise their stocks.

Sony has no need to create a Playstation Phone, because they have SonyEricsson. They already make phones, they don't need to do this.

While this is a Sony reference, the fact Sony did it isn't part of my argument.
Spiderman 3 has a font used for its logo. When the PS3 came out, Sony used the same font for the system. Completely different departments, yet they can still do it.
Why make a Playstation phone? Why not? They can.
AndrewNeo, that is the most ridiculous argument. They needed a font to use for the PS3, Sony (chances are) had spent time and money developing one for SM3 and it fit the look/feel of the PS3 so they used that.
There is no need for a PSP Phone. I will put money on the fact that a PSP Phone never comes to be. There is no sensible reason for them to make one. Maybe implement some VOIP features for Spyke calling or something but not make a PSP Phone attachment.

That only took about 12 hours. I suppose bloggers need to push stories out so quickly that they bypass the "is this real" and "is this really news" filters faster than Taco Bell food passes through anyone that eats it.
