RelaxView is back to distract tattoo customers
We've certainly got to hand it to Dutch retailer relaxView B.V., which is making a name for itself by bundling off-the-shelf components together with a "hygiene set" and marketing the package as a distraction kit for providers of painful services. Following the presumed success of its relaxView 5.0 Dental Pack with tooth torturers worldwide, the company is back with what appears to be the exact same set of HMD plus video discman, but being sold this time around as the 6.0 Tattoo Pack. (FYI, we have no idea why the 5.0 and 6.0 packs both incorporate the relaxView 3.0 head mounted display -- and not the relaxView 4.0, which is the self-proclaimed "Rolls-Royce in video eyewear.") If you're looking to get your favorite tattoo artist something extra special this holiday season, relaxView will part with this kit for a mere €499 ($733) until Christmas, after which the price leaps up to €569 ($836).

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that's photoshopped.
iii @ Dec 7th 2007 11:36AM
i'd say that tatoo is photoshopped too
StrangeBum @ Dec 7th 2007 12:23PM
I believe this is shooped. I can tell by some of the pixels and having seen quite a few shops in my time.
Sam @ Dec 7th 2007 1:00PM
What clued me in first was the way the glasses don't fit correctly on the woman's face, and how the texture just seems off, as does the color, and the shadows aren't done correctly. It almost looks like a drawing or maybe a low-res CG model of the glasses.
Looking at the actual product now, it's got to be a shoop, if you look at the section of the glasses between the arm and the red piece, the way it slopes back on the product page, and the way that distance isn't reflected in the main photo.
Ryan Lynd @ Dec 7th 2007 1:32PM
That doesn't look like photoshop job, more like microsoft paint!
sgt_easton @ Dec 7th 2007 11:37AM
If you can't handle the pain, you don't deserve the tattoo.
Magallanes @ Dec 7th 2007 11:58AM
so, if you are masochist then it's OK a tattoo otherwise just put some a faked one.
Eric @ Dec 7th 2007 11:59AM
Isn't that what vodka is for? Not being able to handle the pain?
booticon @ Dec 7th 2007 12:01PM
Magallanes: handle pain != get off on pain

Not really about the post, but the chick has an elvish tattoo on her back. ^^ I assume it's the Ring script from LOTR.
sgt_easton @ Dec 7th 2007 11:42AM
hahaha...so, that means she can turn invisible?
poorlilboy @ Dec 9th 2007 11:57AM
Sorry to burst your bubble but it's Tibetan. Can't say what it reads but it's quite easily distinguishable from Elvish.
rob @ Dec 7th 2007 11:44AM
haha i've never seen a tattoo parlor or a tattoo artist that looks that clean......
yea definitely photshopped.....
Anthony @ Dec 7th 2007 12:02PM
I'm glad I never went to the parlors you visit. My experiences have always been that they're businesses: clean & professional.
The vision of some garage w/ dirt under the nails & motorcycle grease on jeans is far from what most tattoo artists would like to project.
Flashpoint @ Dec 7th 2007 11:58AM
I get my tattoos strictly for the pain.
Next Week I'm getting 4 tats of the new ZUNES so Engadget will feature me.
Mort85 @ Dec 7th 2007 12:05PM
im going with posters 1& 2 saying that this shit is shopped. i can tell by the pixels, and because i've seen a few shops in my time.
grjohnston @ Dec 7th 2007 12:50PM
Why does everyone say that? Why does everyone say they can tell by some pixels and because they've seen shops? Everyone's seen shops. What makes this blatantly obvious is that there's a freaking arm of the glasses pointing off into the distance--through her head and part of the chair. Come on!
Mark @ Dec 7th 2007 12:50PM
hey guys! stop focusing on discovering if that photo is photoshopped or not. the fact is that this thing can be pretty useful for tattoo artists (and their customers). It is a fact that pain is an important thing that lots of people that want to get tattooed consider before doing it.
rzlmlchm009 @ Dec 7th 2007 1:06PM
I think dentists should look into it as well.
Lord HowitHurtz @ Dec 7th 2007 1:33PM
whoa! i didn't know stephen baldwin was a tattoo artist
Ryan Lynd @ Dec 7th 2007 1:39PM
Never trust a tattoo artist that has no visable tattoo's :)
vistet @ Dec 7th 2007 1:42PM
"...but the chick has an elvish tattoo on her back. ^^ I assume it's the Ring script from LOTR."
Nope, that´s Tibetan - the vertical end marker (tsheg) is one of the easier ways of recognising Tibetan. I´ve always suspected that Tolkien was inspired by Tibetan when he constructed the Elvish script, though.
Boynamedsue @ Dec 7th 2007 1:43PM
this would be a great thing to have when getting a tattoo.
if you're a fucking crybaby.
Zeek @ Dec 7th 2007 3:06PM
Steve Buscemi cleans up real nice.
dave5264 @ Dec 10th 2007 12:50PM
