Is this company run by a bunch of morons or something?
It seems like every couple of months they come out with something that is "so cool" and gets all these great reviews...
But you don't see iRiver anywhere!
I was going to comment on how it took almost an entire year for them to release this thing (it was announced at CES in January), but then I started thinking about all the companies that announce product and never ship them... so I guess that's cool... lol
Because iPod is the ONLY PMP that I've found that lets you scroll at a variable rate through a song/sound file. Nothing is worse that being at 97% of the way through a 1 hour audio book file and losing your place and then having to fast-forward at 6x back to where you were.
Seriously, that is the ONE feature that I could not live without. I must've wasted about 3 hours of my life fast-forwarding through audio files!!
If someone could tell me of other players that would allow variable rate fast-forward, shout it out.
You probably don't see as much of irvier in the U.S. and Canadian markets because they are dominated by the ipod and it's ilk. In Asia, there are many more, and often many better options than the ipod, so people tend to steer away. I see far more of those stupid Mickey Mouse iriver players than I see of any Apple product.
As for the W7: the Korean website is saying that the 8GB is going for around 315USD, while the 4GB is priced at 260USD. It looks like you get a free fleece blanket, socks and a USB-mini adapter if you buy on-line right now.
At the bargaining markets, you'll probably find the plays for $30~$40 cheaper, but I doubt you'll get the socks, and I WANT those socks.

I would have never read an entry about an iriver anything but this was too short not to read. And it was brilliant. Thank you.

that's 'cause mainly iriver does their business online...very rarely (if at all) do you see them in brick-and-mortar stores...
and if you are talking about why you don't see them in people's hands...just poor advertising on iriver's part, and of course the iPod hype machine...
me, I lucked out when I picked one of their devices long time ago...never even touched the iPod after that...

true dat. iriver does have some decent stuff.
i don't understand why everyone buys ipods. like, they're pretty good, but you can do better.

@lounging98:
Thanks! I'll check it out. I've always found the iRiver products to be off superior quality.
Anyone know of any others?

iriver used to have the ugliest designs.. bulging plastic, terrible colours, no style at all... and look at them now!
